Gremlins (For lack of a better title)

Review. By the way, why does no-one ever write Gremlins stories? They're good.

Robert pressed the button, and watched the numbers on the screen tick down. 84, 83, 82...

He could have taken the stairs, but he rather liked the lift. The warm feeling of slowly moving up. The soft ping when you arrived. Besides, he always had a slight hope that he would get stuck in a lift with the girl he liked from floor nine, who caught the lift at the same time as him. He smiled thinking about her.

Ping.

The lift was here. Floor 8. He stepped in and sent the lift up to floor nine, thinking of the girl. He got butterflies in his stomach just thinking about her, though he didn't even know her name.

' I will,' he thought to himself, 'talk to her. I will.'

Ping.

The lft was on floor nine. The girl was just getting on when the doors closed behind her. The elavator started to move up. The girl fell, just gripping the ledge, but not on the lift. On the small space between the lift and the doors. The girl just fit.

'Good thing her figure's so good' thought Robert, then cursed himself for saying it. This was no time to be thinking about things like that. This was an emergency. He stood in between the doors to prevent them from closing. The girl was still hanging on, her fingers loosening. Robert looked down. If she were to fall...Robert shuddered.

"Are you okay?"

"Er... I think my fingers are slipping."

Robert looked and they were. The girl fell. Robert reached down, just grabbing her fingers before she fell to her death.

"Are you alright? What's your name?"

"Jenny."

"I'm Robert. Come on, I'll pull you up."

He managed to pull her up, just as the lift went up again. Then down. Then up.

'What the hell?'

There was a noise, almost as if there was some kind of monster in the lift, like a gremlin or something...

'Don't be silly,' he thought, 'Gremlins don't exist.'

All of a sudden, something landed on the back of his head. It had sharp claws, and they dug in, peircing the skin.

"AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! Get it off!"

He swung his fist at the back of the head, holding on to Jenny with one hand. He pulled the creature back a bit, but it dug its claws into his cinuses even harder. Robert lost his grip. Jenny just managed to grab the edge of the lift as it went up again.

"Hold on."

Robert ran back, banging the back of his head into the metal walls, to hurt the gremlin, forcing it to let go. It stood at his feet, ready to pounce. Robert backed away, his fingers touching the wall. There was a strange lump.

'What?'

The fire precaution. An axe! Robert banged his fist on the glass. Nothing happened. He turned around and punched the glass with all his strength. His fingers were bleeding furiosly, but he didn't notice. He pulled the fire axe out, just as the gremlin clamped his jaws into the back of his leg.

"OOOWWWW! Son of a BITCH!" He screamed, swinging the axe at the moster.

However, it being on the back of his leg, it didn't work. Robert remembered the broken glass. He kicked his leg backwards into the broken glass, injuring the gremlin. However, it still didn't relent. He ran around the lift in pain, until its jaws were ripped off him by Jenny, who had climbed up.

"Stand back, Jenny."

He swung his axe at the gremlin, but it got stuck in the wall on the side of the lift. He strained and strained until it came out, knocking him across to the opposite corner of the lift. The gremlin raced towards him, like a mad bulldog. He stood up quickly, swinging his axe into the gremlin. It caught its hand, going right through and pinning it to the floor. Jenny held the gremlin down with a high-heeled foot while Robert pulled his axe out and swung it down again in one, fatal blow...
