Twas the morn' after New Years, and on board the ship,
There was something quite soft in the swordsman's rough grip.
His fingers were laced through stands of blonde hair,
The cook quite surprised to awake with them there.
The crew was strewn quite content on the floor;
Cleaning up later would prove to be quite the chore.

Zoro was snoring, half-sprawled over Sanji,
Chopper was snuggled between Robin and Nami;
Franky, Usopp, and Luffy were in their own pile,
Their captain stretched out with a big goofy smile.
Somehow not a one of them made it back to their beds
(I guess the drinking simply went to their heads).

"Oi, marimo," grumbled a half-awake cook,
Giving the swordsman a narrow-eyed look.
But Zoro just growled and rolled over more,
Pinning the blonde all the more to the floor.
Sanji sighed and just went back to sleep;
Luffy twitched just slightly from his own heap.

The Straw Hats had partied late into the night,
And even on into the morning's first light.
Eventually all had fallen asleep,
Into slumber most content and quite deep.
Now they snored and they mumbled and rolled,
Curled against one another to ward off the cold.

On the table were the leftovers from their celebration;
All alcohol had been downed without hesitation.
Snack bowls had been emptied and laughter was had,
But the hangovers later would likely be bad.
The Thousand Sunny rocked gently through the calm sea,
His crew dozing together, all quite carefree.

It was some hours later before each crewmate did stir;
Chopper the first, quite warm with his fur.
Robin and Nami sat up as well,
The removing of the doctor's warmth breaking sleep's spell.
Next was Franky, who had to remove himself from Luffy,
Then up was Usopp, though it took a minute to break free.

Luffy blinked twice, then yawned wide,
Giving a grin he just couldn't hide.
Sanji woke then and elbowed the marimo hard,
Catching him, for once, almost off-guard.
"The hell was that for?" was his sluggish reply.
Said then Sanji: "You really are an annoying guy."

And as he broke from the haze of sleep,
He glared down at that curly-browed creep:
"What the hell are you doing down there?"
Countered Sanji: "What's your hand doing in my hair"
The two rolled apart, the swordsman looking somewhat red,
Wishing he could just go right back to bed.

He rose to his feet, demanding "What happened last night?"
Sanji simply smirked slyly, which set off a fight.
Laughter fell from their captain and shoes crashed against blade,
Nami sighing about the mess they had already made.
And after the room was trashed, Luffy gave a loud cheer;
It was already turning out to be another awesome year.
