Harry

After Potions class, Hermione, Ron, and I began walking to the great hall when I heard my name being called. I turned around, really wishing I hadn't.

"I didn't think you'd be so rude as to keep walking without so much as a 'hello'", Malfoy commented snidely.

"I don't see why I should be nice to you", I retorted. He jumped down from the stone wall and landed in front of me.

"Why not? I haven't said anything rude to you; today, anyway"

"And what makes that different from any other day?" Hermione interjected. I watched Malfoy's face go from amused to what can only be described as disgust.

"I don't believe I asked for your opinion. Mudblood", a wicked smile appeared on his face. I looked from him, to Hermione, and back to him.

"Why don't you find someone else to torment?" I questioned angrily.

"Who said I was tormenting her? Besides, maybe she enjoys it. After all, who else is going to give her any sort of attention; negative or not? And it's not like Weasly here is of much help in that area", I looked to Ron, who's face seemed to be going as red as his hair.

"Shut your mouth, Malfoy!" Hermione shouted.

"Don't talk to him like that!" Pansy Parkinson interupted suddenly. To be honest, I was surprised she said anything; usually Malfoy fought his own battles. That is, until his father got involved.

"Excuse me?" Hermione nearly snapped. I was a little shocked when Pansy got in Hermione's face.

"You heard me", she hissed. There was a reason Pansy was in Slytherin.

"Back off, Pansy", Ron interupted. Pansy basically refused to back down by the look she was giving Hermione.

"Watch yourself, Weasly", she whispered.

"Alright, let's go, Ron. Hermione", I interveined, grabbing Hermione's arm and pulling her away.

Draco

I have to say, I was a little surprised to see Pansy stand up for me like that, but it was also pretty amusing. After all, it's always enjoyable to see Granger afraid.

"You didn't need to do that, Pansy", I ensured, but quite honestly, I didn't mind.

"Yes I did, Draco. Besides, I was getting so tired of hearing her insulting you and whatnot", she smiled, hooking her arm with mine. As we walked into the great hall for lunch, we walked by Potter, Weasly, and Granger. I ignored them of course, but lost balance suddenly and nearly fell on my face. When I looked up again, Weasly had one foot out and was grinning at me. I was about to say something when Pansy kicked Weasly's foot; and pretty hard, at that. He retracted his foot and groaned in pain. Pansy just smirked, hooking our arms again as we continued to walk to the Slytherin table.
