Emma is going to go out of her mind because of this.
Neal- here, Neal, the man who taught her never to trust her heart to someone is Gold's son, and she didn't tell Henry the truth, and Henry just said she was just like Regina, and-
She fists her hand in her hair, pulls hard once, then pushes it out of her face and ducks back through the window into Neal's- Baelfire's- apartment.
"He wants to meet you." she says, and congratulates herself on not yelling.
"You weren't going to tell me about him." the father of her son says, and he has the audacity to sound betrayed. There go her congratulations.
"No." she hisses. "No, I was not going to tell you about him. You know why?" His eyes widen and she's glad, viciously happy. "Because I found out I was pregnant in prison!" She sucks in a breath, and it trembles, god, it trembles, no- she's over this.
"Emma-" he starts, and she barrels right over him, she does not want to hear it.
"I was pregnant at seventeen, and I was in prison because the father of my child set me up to take the fall for his theft, after convincing me that we were going to happily set up and play house legitly, a situation in which I might have welcomed a child. Because he betrayed me. Played me like an innocent.
"The day I found out I was pregnant, a woman came in and showed me car keys. I recognized them, and it was a taunt. Hey, I got out, and legitimized the car, and here's my guilty offering to ease my conscience about sacrificing you.
"So yeah. I wasn't going to inform the con-man who sent me to prison that I was having his son. You got a problem with that?"
After watching Once Upon A Time 2x14, Manhattan, I really needed some Emma blowing off some steam. Here's what emerged.
-After getting some reviews about this being Neal bashing.
You know what I like about this TV show? It's hard to vilify people. Except the original James, he was just icky. Most other people (Regina, Hook, Gold, even Cora, though that might change as I watch the next episodes) end up doing things very... understandably, if misguidedly. That said- Emma's hurt? Made me cry. Also- this was what I felt was bubbling at the back of Emma's mind that day, guarded cuz she doesn't vent in front of Gold, or Henry.
So, no. I don't think this is actually against Neal, as much as Belle thinking Hook is more of a monster than Gold means that Hook is more of a monster than Gold.
But. You have a point. If you don't want to read something against Neal, you don't want to stumble on to this. Though I thought 'Betrayal' in the tags would say enough. If not, then...
