The Infernal Devices: Married Life
"You will bear my children and you shall be mine!" The magister shouted. "No!" Tessa yells. "I will never be yours. I am my own, and no-one else's!" She continues. "We will see about that…" The magister says as a sly grin crawls onto his face. He lunges towards her…
"Tessa wake up!" She hears Will's voice, rising in panic. He gently shakes her shoulders. Her eyes snap open, in horror and shock. She is suddenly incredibly confused but then she remembers where she is.
In her bed, next to her husband who is looking at her with his face etched with concern. In the institute. "Tessa…" Will speaks, warmly and at ease. Not knowing how Tessa will react.
"Oh Will, I am terribly sorry. This has happened, one to many times…" She speaks, he head hung down in shame. He picks up her chin and leans her face so it is facing him.
"Don't you ever apologise to me. You have nothing to be sorry for. I love you, Tessa. Anything that makes you happy, makes me happy. Anything that makes you sad or afraid, makes me sad or afraid." He says, his voice warm. And Tessa knows he speaks the truth. She smiles at her husband.
"I love you too." She says. "But sometimes I wonder, what's in this for you…"
"In what way?" He says confused with her question.
"Me and you…" She whispers. Silence.
She looks up at Will and he is looking at her with utter shock.
"Tessa," He breaths. "You are my wife, you are one of two people I love most on this planet. I may have loved you from the moment I met you or even before then my heart was yours. I cannot imagine being without you. If it was not for you. I would never had gone to Magnus and I would still fear falling in love and not knowing how my family are. If it weren't for you, Jem may be no longer with us, and not a silent brother. It is because of you we are to have a child together." He reaches his down to touch her enlarged belly. "And in 3 months I get to meet him."
"Or her…" She points out. He grins.
"Or her." He confirms.
"Tessa, you are everything to me. So please, don't ever wonder what is the benefit of me being with you. There is not enough hours in the day to tell you, all of my reasons." He sighs. "And I really hope you believe that."
He leans down slightly and kisses his wife. "I love you, Tessa. Don't ever forget that."
"I won't. But maybe I need reminding…" She says in a suggestive tone. His eyebrows shoot up and he grins.
"It would be my pleasure, miss gray…" Will smiles. And he brings his mouth down on hers.
