Cowlicks and Ducktails

Claus and Lucas were in front of the mirror, combing their hair. They were getting ready to go to Fuel's birthday party.

Lucas finished fixing his shorts and was about to pick up his brush from the dresser table when Claus stopped him. The blonde boy looked at his brother, puzzled.

"Don't brush your hair anymore, Lucas. It'll take too long."

"I-I can't go to the party with hair like this!" Lucas protested.

"Why not? You already combed through it with your hands. Why do you even have to brush? And why does it have to take so much time? It's such a simple thing to do."

Not wanting to answer any of his brother's questions, Lucas instead replied with a "That's easy for you to say; your hairstyle's so easy to do."

"Easy? This ducktail doesn't make itself, you know." Claus said, stroking the pointy hair at the back of his head. "I just happen to be a lot faster than you."

"I can style my hair like yours in half the time it takes you.." Lucas argued, pouting.

"Well, I bet I can style my hair like yours in a quarter of the time!"

"Hair-styling challenge, then?" the younger offered. "You copy my usual hair, I'll copy yours."

"Fine."

"Boys, you'll be late." Flint called from the door.

"Just a minute!" they said in unison. Flint shrugged. Sensing that that 'minute' would be a very long one, he said, "I'll go on ahead, I guess.." and left.

The boys each took a brush and faced the mirror.

"Ready?"

"Set."

"Comb!"

They arrived at the party thirty minutes late, both with messy hair.

AN: I don't really know how a ducktail or a cowlick is supposed to look like, but that's how people describe Lucas' and Claus' hair. Anyway, thanks for reading!
