"Just a moment, Jack" Alex called back down the stairs. He loved jack and yeah he appreciated every thing she did for him- jack was cool- but when it came to girls there where more laid back people in the world. He quickly finished tying his black bow-tie and straightened it in the mirror. Alex took one last look in the full length mirror that rested against the pearl white wall before him, and straightened out his perfectly fitted tuxedo. The young man that stood before him had changed so much in that last 5 years. He had grown his hair resulting in it falling into tight curls. The natural blonde-ness of his hair had started to fade into a deep brown. But it wasn't the body of the man before him that disturbed him, it was the eyes. They belonged to that of an old man-one that had seen to much hurt and pain in this world. To much horror to even begin to be able to put into words. The greeny colour of his irises had turned more an olive brown colour. If it was true that eyes are the doorway to your soul then, well, my soul must be pretty mucked up Thought Alex. And with that he took a deap breath and grabbed the rose that he had placed earlier on the table next to the mirror and ran down the stairs.
Jack was standing with her back to the stairs when he reached the bottom, flicking through some bills that were due about a month back. When Alex jumped from the 4th step up and landed with a gentle thud Jack herd and started to ask why he had been so long. But when she turned round a slight gasp was let out from her mouth which was hanging open. "Oh Alex…" she trailed off in awe. "You look… incredible, I am so proud of you. Go on then give us a twirl" she reached out to gently nudge his shoulder to get him to turn around. " …you scrub up ok don't you, eh?" Jack half whispered. " look at the time though, look! You have to be there in 10 minuets! Go, go, go!" she half shoved him out the front door. " you have petrol? Keys? Rose? Be careful-ok?"
" yes, yes, yes and yes ok, yer I will do, see you later, don't wait up- love you, and thank you!" Alex said before he hopped into the bright red beetle that sat before him.
