Disclaimer: I don't own Frasier
"Niles," Fraiser said, "There is dust on your shirt."
"Very good Fraiser," Niles said, "Now what color is the carpet?"
"You cleaned the attic," Frasier accused, "and you cleaned the bathroom too."
"Yes," Niles said, "Your point?"
"Niles cleaning the bathroom and the attic were part of Dahpne's punishment. She broke the sailboat Freddie made me. How else is she going to learn her lesson."
Normally Niles would get angry but he understood how much his older brother was hurting from the death of his son. In this case the gentle approach was best.
"Frasier sit down please," Niles said.
Frasier sat down.
"Look you know I love you right," Niles said.
"Of course and I love you too," Frasier said, "What's your point?"
"I know how distraught you are about losing Freddie but you need to refocus that anger. You cannot hurt Dahpne. I want my brother back."
Fraiser sighed.
"I'm sorry," he said, "I'm just so angry. My son went on a trip to New York and died in the twin towers. I shouldn't be the only one hurting."
"Believe me," Niles said, "You're not"
"What can I do instead," Fraiser said, "I can't just let it go"
Niles didn't say a word. Instead he enveloped his older brother in a hug. For the first time since Frederick died Fraiser allowed himself to cry.
Dahpne came into the room.
"Dr. Crane," she said, "I know what I did was wrong. I am so sorry that I broke the sailboat. It was an accident."
"I know Dahpne," Fraiser said, "and I'm sorry about the way I reacted."
"Well I forgive you," Dahpne said, "You're like my brother. I love you."
"I love you too," Niles and Frasier said simultaneously.
"I glued the sailboat back together," Dahpne said, "and I'm ready for the rest now."
"Dahpne," Fraiser said, "If anyone should be punished it's me. I reacted very badly."
He wiped the tears from his eyes.
"I've just been so angry about losing Frederick that I lost sight of what's important. People; not things."
