He had brought out the best in me. In so many ways, he had spurred me onto greater heights. After every loss he was there to comfort me.
'Don't cry Kaede. There will be other games.' he had said a few hours after he had lost to Kainan. He took me into his arms and let me cry there for the tears didn't stop coming. The tender warmth of his embrace calmed me and his words soothed me.
'Just work harder next time.'
' Don't cry. I hate it when you cry.'

After every victory, his praise was the only one that mattered. He never let the game get in the way of our relationship. The intense devotion he exerted in the game doubled in our relationship.
He taught me how to smile, how to relax, how to laugh, how to care and how to appreciate everything that comes my way.
'Kaede look it's a kitten.' he had said one day when we were in the park together. He bent down and picked up the cat. He gave it to me. I named it Aki, after him. Aki still lives with me.
He taught me how to share, how to love, how to care and how to be myself. He taught me many things. Day by day he still teaches me things. Day by day he teaches me how to live.
Aki is purring.
