Slow Seduction, a first ever story.
"You may pack up your equipment and leave my classroom," the dulcet tones of Professor Severus Snape echoed through the cool dungeons. He sighed with relief when the wretched children hurried to their task, practically tripping over each other in their haste to leave. When the last little brat had all but ran out of his classroom Severus finally levered himself out of his chair and made towards his private rooms. Quickly he poured a snifter of brandy from his cabinet and retreated to the sanctity of his most comfortable chair.
Gods forbid, what had he been thinking when he had once again signed on for this job. It wasn't as though he enjoyed the idea of helping those hellions into a better and brighter future. It also wasn't as if he needed the money, although what he was paid for such a thankless job was unsubstantial enough that it would have been no where near enough to support him. No, he was the heir of the house of Snape, a well respected family within the wizarding world, one that had been around for centuries and, unlike the Weasleys, had actually managed to keep a hold of there fortune.
Oh no. It was for the amusement that he had chosen to renew his contract with the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The amusement that came of his best friend, Lucius Malfoy, finally coming into his veela inheritance and in the same year also signing on for a similar contract as Severus' to teach at the school in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Veela inheritance was an odd thing, so Severus pondered. Unlike many other magical creatures (not including the Fae, the vampires and the lycans) the veela only came into inheritance when his mate was at the lagal age of consent – 18. Which meant Lucius was getting a young one. Severus himself had never come into his supposed inheritance, and he wondered if perhaps the fates had decided to skip a generation with him. Severus snorted – more than likely!
But as of yet, much to Severus's extreme disappointment, nothing had happened of any great amusement. Of course Lucius' mate might not even be at Hogwarts. There were many magical schools dotted throughout the world, and with wizarding numbers so low after the war that had finally killed Voldemort three months ago it could also be possible that Lucius' mate was a muggle. Not to mention other confounders such as coma, death or even the common cold. It may even come down to all of the current seventh years only arriving this evening from there extended break after the war. No one had protested when a very weary Ron Weasley had requested the extra two weeks of recovery as it had been his best friend who had finally done away with terror that had plagued the world for nigh on twenty years and it was his best friends who currently lay in a private room at St Mungoes completely unresponsive.
Mr Harry Potter, now he was an enigma to Severus. He had watched with close eyes as the wide-eyed bespectacled boy turned into one of the most famous and celebrated men in all the history of wizardom. And my, thought Severus as he swirled his glass, did he turn out well! And unfortunately for Severus, Harry had turned out nothing like his father, and this made it extremely hard for Severus to hate the boy. And that ass!!
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
Severus was knocked from his reverie with a very resounding and desperate knock on his door. Rolling his eyes, knowing exactly who it was, he slowly rose from his chair and crossed his living room to open the door to a highly excited Lucius.
"They're here!" Lucius exclaimed. "My mate is finally here!"
Inside Severus smirked. Oh yes, what a year.
