James closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he and Fred stepped away from their masterpiece. It had taken all night, but they had finally done it. Their best prank yet.

They had cast hundreds of 'gemino's and 'augamenti's, and finally, at four o'clock in the morning, they were finished with their tedious task: filling the Great Hall with hundreds of cups of water.

James had been inspired by their year learning 'augamenti' in charms class, and that night they had finally put their plan into action.

"What do we have here?" a voice called, coming from behind them. James and Fred both gave each other shocked looks. It was a voice they knew well: Filch.

Before the could run away, Filch grabbed the backs of their shirts and started to drag them away.

"Yes, yes, Headmistress McGonagall will certainly have somethings to say to you about your little troublemaking," Filch muttered as he dragged them along. "But we mustn't disturb her at this time of night. You two will have to deal with me first."

Finally, the three of them arrived at Filch's office. He pushed them in and then scrambled behind his desk, coming up with a fresh detention slip.

"Offenders: James Potter and Fred Weasley," Filch muttered as he wrote on the paper. Fred and James, kept their mouths shut, smart enough to not get into more trouble. "Never thought I'd have to write those two names again. Offense: filling the Great Hall with cups of water. Punishment—" Filch paused as he looked up, the grin on his face big. "Come with me, boys."

Fred and James exchanged confused looks, but still got up and followed Filch back into the hall, where they walked all the way back to the Great Hall.

"Drink. Them," Filch said, opening the doors and revealing the cups, still just sitting there.

"What?" Fred asked, not sure if he heard Filch right.

"Drink all of the water. That's how you'll clean it all up."

James sent Fred an uneasy look—there was a lot of water in the cups, and who knew what that much water could do to somebody's body? Fred shrugged, unsure of a way out. He leaned down, picked up one of the cups, and downed the water.

"One down," he said, grinning. "Your turn, James."

James glared at Fred, but still drank one of the cups, raising it in a mock toast to Fred. "Cheers."
