One shot, Emma Graham. Prompted myself with Leather Jacket. Its all on my tumblr as well.
In all the craziness that had happened since the curse broke, she felt like she'd barely spent anytime in the Sheriff's office at all. Once she finally managed to get a moment alone she headed to her office. She stopped long enough to grab Graham's jacket, her mind on the idea of how watching August die for a moment took her right back to Graham dying in her arms months before. A low tired sigh escaped her lips and she headed into her office, shutting the door and blinds so that she could have some time to think.
A hand reached out to stroke the jacket, hearing Graham's voice in her head, telling her he needed to feel something. Moments later, she could feel wet tear drops falling from her eyes and she decided to shrug it on. For a moment it gave her a sense of peace, which she shouldn't have even had, considering what life had been like in Storybrook back then, but she couldn't help herself either. Graham had made her feel something she didn't want to feel. They'd gotten to kiss and then he died...
Her hands shoved into the pockets for a moment, surprise showing on her face when she pulled out a letter that was written in Graham's handwriting. She didn't want to look at it for a moment, not knowing who it belonged to, but then she saw her name on it. Eyes widened for a moment and then she leaned back in the chair, reading those last words of Graham to her. Tears fell as she read the words he'd written to her and a deep sigh escaped. She was just grateful that no one was hear to see her acting like this at the moment. It'd take way to much to explain it to someone else.
"Graham, you had a heart...I'm just sorry it took so long for you to realize it..." And then she read the last line of the letter and rubbed her face, wiping the tears away. "I would have given you that chance Graham, if there was anyone in the world that would have gotten that chance, it would have been you."
And for a moment, all she could think of was what could have been. They could have been happy. Graham had been an amazing man and she would have given him that chance if he wouldn't have had a heart attack...
Suddenly, things started to come together in a way they didn't before. Graham saying he needed to feel something, that he had a heart that Regina had stolen from him, all sorts of things that she hadn't believed before. But she'd seen magic, seen that hearts could be stolen and all of a sudden, it gelled that Graham didn't die of a heart attack, it had been Regina.
She stood then, slamming her chair into the desk, gently placing the letter back into the jacket and heading out the door. Regina was going to pay for this. There was no way to get out of this one, she'd killed Graham and she needed to pay.
