Beyond the Rose

Look beyond the rose and tell me what you see
The soul that lives inside her is a mystery
The dying embers of the day can only
Silhouette the physical
What lies beyond the rose is something ethereal
The essence of a human, rose, and daikaiju
The memories of figure looking for her
Looking beyond the rose
A rose by no other name is she
The fragrance, the feeling, the monster, the mystery
Echoes of the rose resound
For all those who care to hear
Beyond the rose I see
Shattered dreams of DNA
Answer her prayers tonight
And maybe she'll sleep just a little bit better
Memories are not her own –
Cast them all to the sea
Answer her prayers tonight
And maybe she'll sleep just a little bit better
Those who look beyond the rose can tell me
What the difference is between a man and beast
The rose is naught more than a metaphor
For all that's innocent
If innocence is that which can never last
Then what of the children, the future, tomorrow?
All that which is innocent – pure
Most surely can never last
Petals fall to the sea
Sending out solemn prayers
Prayers over the winds of time
Keep them in hopes of a better tomorrow
Beyond the rose is she
Saying her loving prayers
Answers her prayers tonight
And maybe we'll all sleep a little bit better
