Others would probably find no interest in hearing about cows and sheep but Leia loved every story that came from Jill's mouth. The farmer made a promise to herself that she'd take her to her farm one day.

Jill didn't honestly believe Leia would enjoy the Starry Night Festival with her. When she appeared on her doorstep however, she made a note never to doubt her.

Whenever there was a storm Jill feared for the worst.

"You really should start looking for a boyfriend." they'd all say. Jill would let out a soft laugh and swat their comment away.

It was expected of her to find a guy, get married, and have kids. Jill never really liked that idea. "Why should I?" she always used to say to herself.

Recently though, the idea of marrying someone didn't seem so bad.

Jill liked many things about Leia.

She liked how her eyes twinkled when she smiled and the way her scales glistened in the moonlight. She liked how soft her skin was and the wetness of her hair when she passed her hand through it. She especially liked the way her lips tickled her own when they touched.

When Jill proposed Leia told her to hold onto the feather. "It'll get wet and ruined", she said with a sigh. Every Tuesday until the wedding Jill brought that feather when they met.

Jill wanted to show the world her bride. She wanted the town to know her like she did. Jill was proud of her love but both knew very well what could happen if others found out.

Leia feared their child would grow up to hate her for being a mermaid. Jill feared that they would hate her her for not being a dad.

When Jack was born there was a silence in the room. With his bright blond hair and violet eyes he didn't look like either of his parents.

"I was sort of hoping he'd be a merman.."

Jill knew of the glances when she walked through the street with her son in hand. She knew they whispered and gossiped. Still they held their heads high.

It was an innocent, and expected, question. "How did you and Mama meet?"

Neither woman knew how to respond. Leia tried her best.

"Well I was living in this guys basement when Mom came down and-"

"Okay."

Jack never asked again.
