"Cas," Dean calls from his room. He stares at the door, his beer hovering near his lips while he waits. The door opens and Cas enters the room, shutting the door quietly behind him.
"Yes, Dean?" he asks, standing there unsure of what to do with himself.
"Don't just stand there. Come sit down," he motions to the bed and Cas moves nervously to sit on the edge of the bed, "I don't bite, Cas." He scoots a little closer and Dean rolls his eyes but doesn't push it further. Hell, he's not even sure if Cas feels the same about him, he just hopes he does.
"Why am I here?" Cas asks, watching Dean take another sip of his beer.
"This," Dean gestures towards the TV with the bottle, "is Bugs Bunny. You remember your first case with the cartoon shit? This is that guy we mentioned." Dean grabs a bowl of popcorn of the bedside table and sets it between them before turning the volume up a bit on the TV.
"Oh, you want me to watch it?" Cas asks curiously.
Dean's smile falters for a second, "Well, you don't have to watch it, if you don't want to. I just thought, maybe, since you didn't know who…"
Cas grabs a small handful of the popcorn, "No, it's okay, I want to see it. I'm human now so I should get into this stuff, right?"
"You don't have to, there's other shows. I just wanted to see what you thought of it," Dean says, taking another gulp of beer.
"Okay, I'll watch," Cas nods his head and settles into the pillows leaning against the wall.
'Holy hell,' Dean thinks, 'I've got Cas in bed for the first time and it's to watch cartoons. Step up your game, Winchester.' Dean moves a bit closer to Cas, attempting to be subtle but catching the way Cas' gaze flickers over to him real quick. Clearing his throat, he attempts to focus on the silly jokes and ignore the fact he's only a foot away from Cas.
The episode comes to a close, the television screen dimming the whole room as it cuts to black. "What did you thi-?" Dean starts but when he looks over at Cas, he notices Cas' eyelids are drooping.
"Hm?" Cas hums.
"Nothing, you should sleep. How long's it been since you slept?" Dean asks.
"Two days…" comes Cas' sleepy mumble.
"Damn, Cas, you need to rest," Dean says, stunned that Cas had managed to keep his eyes open this long.
"Not used to it," he says simply.
Dean turns the volume on the TV down and flips around the channels for something better to watch. He's still flipping through channels when he feels a weight rest on his shoulder. He looks over to see a sleeping Cas lightly rested against his body, quiet snores sounding through the nearly silent room. Unsure of what to do, Dean gently rustles Cas' arm.
"Hey, Cas," he whispers, "You, um, you fell asleep on my shoulder."
"S'okay," Cas murmurs, wrapping an arm around Dean's torso. Dean can't tell if Cas is doing all of this in his sleep or if he knows what he's doing. Either way, Dean cautiously wraps an arm around Cas and lets sleep pluck at him.
"I love you, Cas," he whispers. Moments pass and he's almost positive that Cas is asleep and didn't hear him until a tiny voice says back, "I love you, too."
