I own nothing. This is not historically accurate so don't kill me screaming that's not what happened.
Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust
Matthew, no, Canada stared as York burned. His chest burned as his brother's people burned and pillaged Canada's capital. Anger blazed through Matthew's veins, and his vision slowly bled away until he saw red. His hands were clamped into fists, his fingernails stabbing into the skin of his palms. America would pay.
Bones to Clay, Iron to Rust
His army burned through the colonies. His people slaughtered their opposition, leaving the injured and dead to rot in the mud of the battlefield as they marched towards the heart of America. The iron of their bullets rained down on the Yankees, and, when those ran out, they armed their bayonets and continued on, even as the dull rust red bloods became impossible to remove.
And when you fall, I'll take my turn
The French Canadiens, English Militia, Native Peoples, and British Troops put away their differences to fight the common enemy, and to prove themselves to those who thought them weak. They fought the Americans back to the border, then began their own conquest, and blazed a path to the White House. They lost many, but gained many friends in the men who fought beside them.
To flick a match, and watch you burn
Matthew's eyes glowed red in the light from the fire. He stared as his brother's precious White House burned, but the sweet revenge left a bitter taste in his mouth. As he walked among the ashes he found his brother, kneeling in the dust, silent tears leaving tracks on his mud and blood covered face. As the younger looked to the older, he muttered a single word, "Why?"
Something inside Matthew cracked, and tears began pouring down his face as well. "I don't know." He whispered truthfully.
