Title: Cause and Effect
Author: dulcemusa
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or anything related, no matter how much I dream that I do, J.K Rowling does and it is not my intention to claim otherwise.
Warnings: The story could be cannon, it starts at the end war and will pick up from there, so forget the epilogue.
In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons.

PREFACE
Hermione never stopped to think what would happen once the war ended. No one did. Everyone had their mind full with the present. Sure, she hoped and ached for a victory, but she never really thought something like "once it's over with I'm going to water all my plants" to say the least. She did know, however, that there was a chance that good could not beat evil and darker times would come. But she tried not to think too much of that.
She figured that winning or losing a war would not be the same as ending a game of chess, where the players could just shake hands and carry on with their lives. Times would be rough, no need to be a genius to know that.
But faith never left Hermione, even on the darkest day. The war ended officially on May 2nd, but like said before, it was no game of chess. Many of Voldemort's followers resented the loss and were determined to keep fighting for their own beliefs. Others tried to run and hide. In any case, it was a total chaos. And two months later things hadn't changed much.
Tiny battles still erupted here and there, but the Dark Lord's followers began to fade. Azkaban never smelt more of evil as it did before. Many families had lost a dear one, and the cemetery was full of colorful flowers. Everyone awaited the light that would announce the start of a new era, but everything seemed so dark, sullen.
Buildings had to be reconstructed, houses, stores, Hogwarts. Everything, even the hearts of the players of such a horrible game.

Hope you enjoyed! I know it doesn't say much, but I wanted to establish the setting. Read and Review!
