August Anderson Swiveled around in his favorite chair and stood up quickly, his pulse speeding up ever so slightly as he heard the sound of Annie's heels rapidly coming closer to him. He stumbled backward a few steps when his favorite person in the world flung herself into his arms, but steadied himself and folded her tight into his embrace. Neither cared that everyone in Tech Ops was watching, nor that they would probably be the talk of the CIA building for the next week. All Auggie could do was smell the intoxicating scent of Annie's perfume and thank the lord that after all of these months they were able to bring her home safely.
Annie had been one of the few agents selected to partake in a highly classified mission that involved taking down one of the lesser known yet highly dangerous terrorist organizations. Upon the completion of this mission she received an unbelievably high pay raise (probably to give her incentive to keep her mouth shut) but most importantly she got to come home to Auggie. She held him as tight to her body as was publicly appropriate, and ran her hand up and down his spine just to assure herself that he was really there holding her. She had dreamed about this for months, but not a single one of her daydreams had even scratched the surface of just how amazing this felt.
After several long minutes the two broke apart just long enough for Auggie to yell "somebody tell Joan that I'll be taking the rest of the day off!" and turn off the computer that sat atop his desk. Taking Annie's hand and lacing his fingers through hers, he grabbed his cane and his jacket, letting Annie lead him out of the room, too deliriously happy to concentrate on where he was going. All the way to her little red car he traced tiny circles on the back of her hand and smiled a goofy smile. He didn't know how, but he just knew that Annie was smiling a smile that would blind him if his sight weren't already long gone.
