They would never fit together perfectly, there was nothing to draw them together, and they weren't a fairytale story. They lived in the same place but could be from different worlds. But somehow there was something there. A budding thought in the back of his mind, a feeling that was quickly dismissed, a look that lingered for a second too long. He would never admit it, and she saw that. He had his ways, and the way he had always been doing things. She would never be good enough for him, he always had remembered that. She always kept in mind that she would never want a stuck up, arrogant, pretty boy at her side, especially one who pretended not to associate with her. But there still was something there. The something that kept them both up at night wondering why they were handed these feelings when they would never be used.

The day she fainted in class he had been there. Silently watching and waiting. As she fell he kept his distance, staying seated as the whole class jumped to see what was wrong. The nurse came quickly to the room and went to her aid. Picking her off the ground and leading her away. With her mind spinning out of control, their eyes locked, he reached out and skimmed his fingers across her leg for barely a moment. For that moment she saw the comfort in his eyes, the feelings he refused to show, even a glimpse of worry. She stared for a moment, his eyes went blank and the moment was gone as quickly as it came.

Hermione and Draco will never fit together perfectly; they would just live in the moments that pass too quickly, knowing there would never be more. They would keep living their lives, pretending as if something wasn't there.
