Another one-shot which I finished. Enjoy!
Magnus was known for his excellent taste in sparkles. He wore them no matter what. In his hair, clothes and even on his own skin. Whenever the light hit him, he looked like a disco ball. He was also known for his taste in men. Rogue muscular vampires and werewolves that had a soft spot for cuddles. He had even found some of the mundanes that paraded on his TV to be rather attractive. But he had never fallen so hard for a 24 year old shadowhunter with a brood so strong that it could level cities. He watched Alec work in the kitchen, chopping up vegetables to put in a soup.
"You know I can summon soup from the realms, right?" Magnus piped in. He was leaning over the table in a bright yellow shirt and tight jeans. Red, orange and yellow glitter donned his spikes, catching the light and making the warlock's hair look like fire.
"I do know that," Alec replied, scooping up carrots and dumping them in the pot "you did once summon 3 pizzas and we only ate one from those magic realms, but nothing is better than homemade" Alec gave a mildly smug smirk which always makes Magnus happy. He seemed so angry at the demons for turning up most of the day that when he smiled, it was a wonderful rarity that everyone should treasure. The smile stood out from the shortened dark hair and the black jeans and t-shirt combo.
"I never thought that those hands, which slay demons day after day, could be so... nimble" Magnus stood up from his slumped position to wander into the kitchen. Alec watched him slowly with sky blue eyes before losing Magnus from his field of view. He knew where Magnus was though, right behind him, wrapping his arms around Alec's waist, resting the tip of his nose at the base of Alec's neck with his forehead at the nape. Alec let out a long and content sigh. He felt Magnus whisper in his ear "Nothing is better than homemade"
Alec set the knife down and moved it away from edge. He turned to face Magnus and wound his arms around Magnus's neck. They were pressed against each other, not speaking. Eyes closed, they felt each others warmth and the fabric of their clothes. They moved from resting foreheads to a full on I love you hug. They were now the same height so Alec didn't need to stretch to get his chin on Magnus's shoulder. Magnus buried his face in the space between Alec's shoulder and neck.
"Meoww" a high pitched wail echoed around the apartment and broke the quiet. The Chairman was perched carefully on the edge of the sofa and looked up at his owners with wide golden eyes. Magnus widened his own in response then broke away from Alec to scoop up the pom-pom on legs into his long arms. He sat down on the sofa as Alec went back to his work of measuring out enough water for a stock cube.
Alec shuffled over after putting his chopped up veg and stock water in a pan and then onto a low light on the stove. He stroked the chairman's head, his gold wedding ring shimmering in the white fur of the fluff-ball. Magnus rested his own hand on Alec's. Magnus normally wore lots of rings on both hands but now he only wore two on his left, the engagement ring that Alec gave him on a trip to Idris and the plain gold wedding ring that was identical to Alec's in every way. "I love you" Alec said with a casual tone because he said it everyday and every time, those three little words meant the world to Magnus.
