Integra leaned back in her chair and enjoyed the minute of rest. For the briefest of moments, there was no paper work. At this instance, there were no vampire or FREAK attacks to bother her. Nothing to bother her. She puffed on her cigar and sighed.
"Reminiscing about old times?"
And the moment was gone.
"I'm not above such a thing," Integra said.
Alucard dropped out of the ceiling and fell into a sitting position in front of Integra. He propped his feet up on her desk.
Integra stared at the boots for a few minutes before finally speaking up. "I would appreciate it if you would remove your feet from my desk."
Alucard grinned. "I bet you would."
"I could order you to, you know."
Alucard's grin widened. "Oh would you really?"
Integra puffed at her cigar. "I thought you had been taught better manners as a nobleman."
"Good manners does not always come with nobility. Nor does good behavior, as I recall."
Integra smiled. "Are you insinuating something?"
"Perhaps. How long did Walter keep the sweets from you? Two months? Three?"
Integra stubbed her cigar out in an ash tray. "Five. Due to my age and that as the current leader of Hellsing, I should have known better. And you? How long were you on the A- blood ration?"
"A year and a half. I should have known better then to actually follow your scheme."
"I did order you to do it. It wasn't like you could ignore me."
Alucard shrugged. "True. But that is the past. And can hardly be changed."
"You of all people would know that, wouldn't you?"
The door opened and Walter came in. "Sir Integra, I have some more paperwork for you."
"And the moment is broken," Alucard said. He tipped his hat to Integra. "A good evening to you, Sir Hellsing." He melted through the chair and into the floor, his shadow passing down into the basement.
Walter laid the papers out in front of Integra. "It's next months blood ration request."
Integra nodded. She looked down at the first form, for Alucard, and a small smile crossed her face. She made a quick note, checked a few boxes, then signed it. She handed the form to Walter and continued on to Seras' blood ration.
"Sir Integra, are you sure about this? A full AB blood ration?"
Integra nodded. "Atonement for younger days," she said as she signed off Seras' ration.
Two weeks later.
Integra yawned as she lit a cigar. A brief moment of peace. A blessed minute of relaxation.
She looked down at her desk to find that a plate had suddenly appeared there. A small pudding was laid out on the plate, with a fork, knife, and napkin neatly placed next to it.
"Reminiscing about old times?" Integra asked the empty air.
"I'm not above it," the shadows answered.
