"Did you like the movie?"
"Yeah. It was good. Not scary at all."
"Shorter. You've been clinging to me for 90% of the time, pushing your face against my shoulder.", she laughed.
"That- that was because I just wanted to.. be close to you. That's all.", he pouted and crossed his arms in front of his chest.
"You're a bad liar.", she said, rubbing her arms. Shorter noticed that she was cold and took off his jacket to put it over her shoulders. Her eyes widened when he did, but she smiled and placed a soft kiss on his cheek, whispering a quiet 'thank you'.
"Don't want you to catch a cold.", he shrugged and wrapped an arm around her.
"So you'd rather catch one yourself?"
"I never get sick. Thanks to all the healthy food I eat.", he said. "Lot's of veggies and stuff. They keep me healthy, you know?"
"Is that so? Then you should cook for me some time. You know.. to make sure I stay healthy and stuff."
Shorter stopped and took her hand, pulling it to his mouth to place a kiss on the back of it. "How about that.. We go to my sister's restaurant right now and I cook something for you. I mean you've been walking around without a jacket for some time so we should make sure you get something to keep you from getting sick."
She shook her head but couldn't stop smiling. "You're my hero, you know that?"
"I hear that quite often, actually.", Shorter answered as they started walking again, holding hands.
"Liar."
Shorter guided her into the kitchen as soon as they arrived.
"Where's your sister?", she asked as she hopped onto the counter.
"She's spending her weekend with Charlie.", he answered, searching for pots and pans.
He soon started cooking rice, cutting vegetables and she was surprised at how skilled he was. He really knew what he was doing.
They sat down on a round table and started eating. It tasted really good but she couldn't help but tease him.
"Fried rice is the only thing you can cook, right? Be honest."
Shorter closed his eyes and shook his head. "She really thinks that's the only thing I'm able to cook. Guess I have to proof you wrong some time."
"Oh, do you? When?", she asked.
"Well.. how about tomorrow morning?"
"You mean breakfast?"
"Yeah."
"Well, I don't know. I don't really like getting up super early to have breakfast on Saturdays.", she said and leaned back.
"You don't have to get up. You can stay at my place and you'll get breakfast in bed."
Shorter crossed his arms.
"You wash the dishes though."
"Excuse me?", she yelled, making Shorter laugh like crazy.
"I'm just kidding, dummy."
The night passed and she woke up to not the expected sound of someone working in the kitchen to prepare breakfast but to someone coughing right next to her. She turned around and sighed.
"Seems like veggies alone don't keep you healthy, huh, Mr. I-never-get-sick?"
"This is nothing.", Shorter sniffled.
She moved her hand to his forehead. "You've got a fever, you're completely hot."
"Thank you.", he replied, smirking.
She rolled her eyes at him and got up, to get more blankets and wrapped him up in them.
"What are you doing? I promised you breakfast.", he said, trying to stand up but she pushed him back into the pillows.
"That can wait until you're better. I don't want you sneezing into it or something."
"Fine.", Shorter huffed.
"You got all the time in the world for it, you know? I'm not going anywhere.", she laughed and sat down next to him to kiss his burning forehead.
Shorter smiled up at her. "All the time in the world, yeah."
