Okay, i have been working on this for weeks, it is a three-shot, and i think its pretty awesome.
please review because i have blown off a lot of math homework for this lol
DIsclaimer: Unfortunetly i do not own Eragon, but incase you were wondering, I am an elf.
"Where were you? We thought you were dead or worse."
Arya couldn't help the burning jealousy she felt as Nasuada embraced Eragon.
She tried to hide her discomfort by murmuring, "The candle still burns."
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a young man, a bit older than Eragon, switching his gaze back and forth between Nasuada and herself.
Must be his cousin. She thought to herself.
Arya sat, quiet as could be while Eragon and his cousin, whose name happened to be Roran, explained themselves. While still fully aware of the conversation, Arya too advantage of the time and studied the two. It wasn't until she compared the two that she fully absorbed the changes that had been made to Eragon's face. He and Roran had once looked fairly similar, but now, there was no recognizable resemblance between the two. She wondered if Eragon had ever taken the time to ponder the subject. She knew family resemblance was important among humans. Didn't it hurt to have such a big part of himself taken away without warning?
Arya snapped back into reality when Nasuada dismissed herself.
"Roran, would you accompany me to my guest chamber? Then we may discuss what to do with your town."
They exited, leaving Eragon and Arya alone for the first time since that fateful final night of the Agaeti Blodren.
Suddenly, her emotions overcame her and a tear escaped from the inner corner of her eye. Despite her efforts, he noticed.
He tried to walk to her, but his fatigue caused him to stagger back.
"Oh Eragon. Let me help you."
He seated himself upon a crate before she healed his cuts and bruises.
"It's really never going to work between us, is it?"
the question startled her. She knew this conversation was coming but she never expected it so soon.
"Our lives are long. Who am I to determine fate?" she let another tear fall. The bead paused on her cheek.
"What are you afraid of?" Eragon mumbled, wiping the tear from her cheek with his thumb.
She thought for a moment that he had peeked into her mind and wondered why she didn't feel it.
Had they really become that accustomed to each other's feelings?
She placed her hand over his that lingered on her cheek.
"Everything." she gazed into his eyes for quite a few minutes before Saphira returned.
Little one? You need to rest.
I know. Eragon thought snidely.
Arya smirked at his reluctance as he stood.
He rolled his eyes and said, "There's nothing to fear in the presence of Eragon Shadeslayer!" How she wished that was true.
Arya surprised herself n the seriousness of the moment by laughing, and giggling again at the pleased smile he had on his face for making her laugh.
"Go now, Shadeslayer. You do need your rest."
"Rest easy, princess." he left then.
Norlmally, i would say "soory, this sucks, blah, blah, blah" but i really like this, so i won't.
tell me what you think.
