:D It's been a while since the last poem fic. This one is in a similar style to Ikuto's Fortress, my first (or maybe second) poemfic.

I do not own Shugo Chara.

Poem is written by me. Its title is Remind Me.

Remind Me

Amu looked up at the sky. It was cloaked in an endless ocean of clouds. How insignificant she was; placed on a land where she could spend her life running to the horizon but never see the end. How small she felt; standing before that grand, open expanse of white and grey blurs that she could never jump high enough to reach.

Remind me that my life
Is worth the trouble of living.

She had made many mistakes; many people – particularly Ikuto, whom she had misunderstood for all this time – had reason to hate her, yet they never did. Why? Perhaps she mattered to them, and they wanted to see her happy. Or perhaps she was too small and insignificant for them to hate.

Remind me that my wrongs
Are at least worth forgiving.

Everyone was too kind to her, too tolerant. They also expected too much of her sometimes, as the Joker. She hoped to match those expectations, to repay everyone for their compassion and patience.

Remind me that my hopes
Are not entirely in vain.

Yes, she wanted to repay them; but to think of it as something selfless would be a mistake. She wanted to exceed their expectations. She wanted to exceed herself. To say that she had never dreamed of being the heroine who saves the world from hopelessness, who makes the world perfect and is loved for it – to say that she never wished to be such a person would be to tell a huge lie.

Remind me that my dreams
Might not be insane.

And yet, in this world where she could never even reach the skies or the horizon, how could she ever become that legendary saviour? No, all that would happen was that she would stumble and trip on her race for the horizon, that she would fall back down to the hard, cold earth without so much as brushing the sky with her fingertips. And what then?

Remind me that I may slip
But no one would let me fall.

Yes, what then? Would she pick herself back up and continue on this impossible journey, only to stumble again and again until she is too battered and bruised to move a muscle? Would she step back up and try once again to reach the stars, only to fall over and over until there is not a bone in her body left unbroken? Would anyone reach out to catch her small and insignificant self?

Remind me that all my fears
Are not worth fearing at all.

"Amu, are you daydreaming? That's not like you!"

"You look a little depressed. What's wrong?"

"You can always tell us, desu. We'll help you."

Amu smiled. There was nothing to be afraid of, not when her friends and guardian characters were always there; always ready to lend a helping hand, to pick her up from the ground, and to encourage her to go on and reach for her dreams.
