His Thin, Cruel Lips

Sarah studied his pale face as she gently brushed away the glittering strands that covered his eyes. She found that even in her dreams she had never seen him look so peaceful, so innocent and ethereal. She traced his jawline with her trembling fingers and saw by itself move to his thin, cruel lips.

She then thought of how his lips became the bane of her life. She thought of how his lips spat words of malice and also how easily uttered were words of promise of a strange love. His lips that would never again curve up into that arrogant grin she so hated.

His lips.

Sarah knew she had taken him for granted. He had shown her a world not many have seen and ultimately offered it to her, but with one condition. However she chose to drown in her arrogance upon her triumph over the Goblin King. She was the legendary mortal girl who had not only conquered the Goblin King's Labyrinth, but his heart as well.

'Champion of The Labyrinth' was such a glorious title. Who would have thought that it came with a price?

A warm trail of tears began to tickle Sarah's cheeks. Her tears fell on Jareth's closed eyes and for a moment, it looked as if he was crying as well. Anyone who saw it, Mortal or Faerie, would agree then that it was a scene of great sorrow.

The Fallen King and the Defiant Queen; what a sad love it was.

Sarah wiped her tears off his eyes gently, turning his glittering lashes to a dead brown. With that, she bent down and placed a soft kiss on his thin, cruel lips. Against his cold lips, Sarah whispered the words that forever bound them together.

''You have no power over me."
