Charlie Conway couldn't quite believe that his brunette goddess who was so sweet and innocent a few weeks before had become the monster sitting in front of him.

The arguments were always the same.

"Charlie you spent way too much time with those Ducks, you know they don't like me so why do you hang around them all of the time? Don't I mean anything to you?"

Charlie groaned inwardly. He knew it had to end some time soon. He couldn't take much more of this.

What if I wanted to break
Laugh it all off in your face
What would you do? (Oh, oh)
What if I fell to the floor
Couldn't take all this anymore
What would you do, do, do?

"Charlie! Are you even listening to me?" Linda screamed attracting the attention of most of the cafeteria. He'd blown off his best friends, the Ducks, who were also his hockey team to sit in the corner of the cafeteria with Linda and only Linda. Didn't that count for something?

Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you

He opened his mouth to speak but promptly shut it. For the first time in his life he was afraid of what might come out of it.

What if I wanted to fight
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do?
You say you wanted more
What are you waiting for?
I'm not running from you (from you)

"See Charlie you don't even have an answer for me!" Linda scoffed and crossed her arms. He briefly wondered why he was even still sitting here. The answer was obvious though, he was still infatuated with her. It was the same reason Luis put up with Mindy.

Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you
Look in my eyes
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you

"I'm sorry" Charlie tried to smooth things over but she was having none of it.

"Sorry won't cut it this time Charlie, I'm sick of being second to those Ducks. They're not even your real friends"

I tried to be someone else
But nothing seemed to change
I know now, this is who I really am inside.
Finally found myself
Fighting for a chance.
I know now, this is who I really am.

Charlie was stunned. He couldn't even see straight he was so mad. How dare she say they weren't his real friends!

Ah, ah
Oh, oh
Ah, ah

Come break me down
Bury me, bury me
I am finished with you, you, you.
Look in my eyes
You're killing me, killing me
All I wanted was you

"They've been my friends since I was a kid" Charlie said softly. He was trying his hardest not to yell but it was starting to become increasingly difficult.

Come break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)
Break me down (bury me, bury me)

"And you're still very much a 'kid' aren't you?" Linda was still yelling.

Charlie very slowly rose from his seat and made a move to leave the table.

"Where are you going?" Linda asked in disbelief. She was in awe that he would just walk away from her.

"I am finished with you" Charlie said loud enough so she could hear and sauntered back to the Ducks table. No one messed with him or his Ducks.

(You say you wanted more)
What if I wanted to break...?
(What are you waiting for?)
Bury me, bury me
(I'm not running from you)
What if I
What if I
What if I
What if I
Bury me, bury me

"Welcome back Captain Duck" his friend Russ Tyler slapped him on the back and the others welcomed him back, no questions asked.

Charlie sat down satisfied.

This was who he really was.
