A/N: Hey everyone who bothers to read this, this is what my crazy mind came up with after watching a marathon of SPIDERMAN!
Warning- This is my first fanfiction, so if your eyes begin to bleed, I cannot be held responsible.
Since the fifth grade, I knew I was special. Not special like your parents will tell you, or 'special' like your peers will tease you of being, but special, meaning I had a purpose. Not just a purpose, but something important. I do not know exactly what I mean by that, but I hope I will soon.
"Ms. Oak? Ms. Oak, please pay attention. Ms. Oak!"
The shrill voice of my Creative Writing teacher drew my attention away from my journal. I turned my head upwards, glaring at her.
"Finally, I have managed to get your attention. Does the genre of fantasy not interest you?" She asked sharply.
"Yes. I mean no!" I said quickly. I glanced down guiltily at my hands. The guilt quickly went away as she took my journal. "Hey!" I said. "That's mine!"
She sighed. "You can have it back after class. Ahem. On with the lesson. For the next thirty minutes you will be writing a short story about spiders."
Spiders... I thought. I had Arachnophobia, a horrible fear of spiders. "Miss Eerie, why are we suddenly switching topic? You were having us create fantasy worlds yesterday!" Asked one of the boys in my class.
"We're going on a fieldtrip tomorrow. Now, go ahead with your work."
I turned to my paper, and began to rant about spiders.
Spiders... The very thought of them scares the living daylights out of me. With their eight, spindly legs, and their venomous bites...
The next morning, I was unfortunately herded onto a bus, with my peers, and shipped out of my small town of Elmsford, NY. Having gotten my journal back from Miss Eerie, I paid no attention to the scenery, and instead continued my entry from yesterday.
My name's Tracy. Tracy Oak. What a bland name. I must be such a bland person, maybe even-
Anyway, trying to not rant, it is April 11th, and today we're off to a mysterious place, of which our teachers are telling us nothing about. I think it has to do with Spiders, though, and that means I am going to freak out, I know it.
Whoa, so apparently we've arrived at this mysterious facility. It seems to be a genetics lab.
I closed my journal quickly and stuffed it into my backpack. The woman greeted us cheerily and began to show us around. Then we got to the spider area. Each of them was genetically mutated, and I wanted to faint.
"Hey, Oak, look at the spiders!" one of the school bullies, Trey Mendes whispered. He grabbed the back of my jacket and pushed me closed to the 15 little cubes, in which there were spiders. "Count them." He said. I shivered and began to count.
"…Thirteen…Fourteen…Fourteen? That can't be right…" I muttered, counting them again, and ignoring my nauseous stomach for curiosity. My eyes widened as I saw the horrifyingly small hole in one of the cubes.
"Miss… Miss, excuse me! Miss!" I yelled, trying to get our guides attention. "One of your spiders has gotten out." I said, and a chill ran down my spine. I felt a pinch on my arm and glared at Trey, but he was across the room and already sprinting towards the door. Then I realized- the spider could be anywhere.
I am ashamed to say it, but I fainted on the spot.
