Meeting the experts

"…You sure that this is going to work?" Eve asked Flynn, as the two of them were off to meet the experts on Apophis that Jenkins had recommended for them.
"Yes! Are you asking me to say this because you in love with the sound of my voice?" Flynn asked brightly.
"Yeah, I just love hearing you talk," Eve replied, only semi-sarcastically, as the two of them went and opened the right door. "Is this the Brooklyn House of the House of Life?"
"Yes!" replied a pair of children, clearly in their early teens. "Only, technically, this is a nome instead?"
"A gnome?" Flynn blinked.
"A nome," the boy said in a firmer tone of voice.
"Thank goodness, I cannot stand those little guys," Flynn replied cheerfully. "So, who are you? We need to talk to the Chief Lector Iskander?"
"He has passed on a while ago, nowadays Amos is the Chief Lector," the girl replied, thoughtfully taking stock of the grown-ups. "Why did you want to talk to the Chief Lector anyhow?"
"We believe that you're the experts," Flynn spoke, only partially lying: the Librarians had met many strange people of all ages over their adventures, and some of them were helpful, regardless of their age. "Apophis, the Devourer of Dawn, has escaped, and we need to stop them."
"…He couldn't have escaped directly – the execration cannot be avoided or dodged or dismissed, not even by him," the girl from the Brooklyn nome told her partner. "He might've sent his shadow or some sort of an avatar instead." She switched her attention back to the Librarians. "Since we're all standing, and some of us were actually unaware that he has returned yet again, things aren't as bad as they could be. Still, you better sit and tell us what has happened in regards to Apophis, and how, and also just who you are?"
"I'm Eve and this is Flynn. We're the Librarians," Eve replied, even as she and Flynn followed the children to a nearby table (with some chairs, of course). "And you?"
"I'm Carter and this is Zia," the boy matched Eve for tone for tone. "Now, let's talk Apophis."
