Hey guys. Happy 4th of July! I have wanted to use this idea for a while, but I have been too busy writing Smoke Will Burn and doing other things. Just so you know, I mix up first and third person POV sometimes. In fact, I have messed up at least once in Smoke Will Burn. My friend, flinchcanpunchthroughwalls1, has written and posted her first fanfiction, which is called "Do You Hear Wings Flapping?"which I edited. Make sure that you read it. But first, read this. Even though I have always had a huge problem with length and detail, I am sure that you will still enjoy it. X3(FYI: This is an AU (Alternate Universe) fanfiction)

"Nice braces, goober. Looks like you've been munching on a bicycle chain." Jackson said, looking at Brett's braces. Brett just didn't get it. How could their friendship evaporate so fast? The only explanation was the braces that he got yesterday. Braces. Nerds had braces. He had always bullied nerds, but he never thought that he would become one himself. He remembered all of those years where he would make plans with Jackson to pull pranks on the nerds. Now he would probably find someone else to do it with. Brett wished that those memories weren't memories. He wished that those memories were current events. Things that were happening right now. As he waited for admirers by his locker, he wondered, How could a dumb set of braces ruin what was an everlasting friendship? It didn't make any sense, at least in Brett's opinion. No one talked to him. No one ever returned his high fives. In a way, Brett felt like a ghost- a formless entity that no one could see or hear. When he tried to sit with his old gang at lunch, they just rejected him. He felt like he was having a nightmare. But it was one of those where you can't wake up.
