One step closer
The fire in the Gryffindor common room crackled, sparks flying everywhere, yet not burning a thing. The fire, was comforting, as the lightning outside crashed and thunder roared outside of Hogwarts castle. A soaked Gryffindor made her way to the common room, and as soon as the portrait hole opened, she ran in and plopped herself down on the nearest armchair to the fire, she closed her eyes for a few seconds before a voice interrupted her peace "Hey Evans"
Lily whipped her soaked hair angrily through the air, her emerald eyes resting on the tall, hazel eye, ruffled hair boy and they narrowed in annoyance "What Potter?" she retorted, spitting her words "You look like you're soaked. Want me to warm you up?" he asked, grinning cockily. Her noise wrinkled in disgust and said "I wouldn't go near you with a 39 ½ ft. pole Potter." He sighed. . Why did everything go wrong when it came to Lily Evans? He fired back immediately "C'mon Lils, why don't you go out with me? He said, walking over to her and sitting in the armchair opposite of her.
"Because Potter" she said , glaring" You are an arrogant , bullying, immature git and I will never, ever go out with you. You expect me-" she began, she stood up and prodded him in the chest with her finger "To go out with you, after you bully Severus countless times?" He looked up at her, surprised. "If you hadn't noticed, I've stopped bugging Sniv-Snape for the past few months" he said quietly. She raised her eyebrows in surprise. She hadn't noticed. Why had she been so blind? She hadn't seen that he changed his ways, for her. She tried to stammer an apology, coming out in stutters.
"I'm...I'm s-s-sorry...James". James looked up in surprised."You called me James"
She looked back at him, and shrugged. "Yes, what's so interesting" He gave her a soft smile. "You've never called me James before". She smiled a bit in return. "Yeah, I always called you Potter" She relaxed, her green eyes boring into his own hazel eyes. Sitting back down, she said "Well, maybe you aren't as bad as I thought...James" He smiled brightly, his eyes reflecting his happiness. "Well, Lils, I thought, maybe if I could change, we could be friends" She nodded "Friends. Yeah that'd be nice"
She yawned, and got up, her red hair finally dried from the rain. She smiles and said "Well, I best be going in for the night" she began, walking to her tower. She turned back, and said "Night James". James stared at her until she departed, the last of her scarlet hair flying in waves as she disappeared. James sat against the armchair and smiled. Feeling the best he's felt in months. Lily was his friend. Something he could never dream before. All James knew, was that he's one step closer to Lily Evans
