"Could you love me?"

"Excuse me?" Severus met Harry's piercing eyes through the darkness.

"I know you loved my mother and I know I am not her but could you love me? Deeper than you loved her?" Harry's voiced trembled.

Severus felt them grow apart in the darkness. Emerald orbs seemed to dim the light flwoing away from them.

"I… I am unsure. Things are not as they where before. We are no longer…" Severus wondered for a moment how one admitted after years of denial an obvious truth to themselves.

"I know but…I believe we could be happy." Harry murmured and Severus thought he could feel warmth radiating in front of him.

"You were married and there are children. A Legacy. You had happiness." The words felt fake he could admit that much. He had been waiting here all this time, for exactly what, he did not know. Could this be it?

"If I say no…" he murmured into the dark.

Harry's voice echoed in his ears, "Than I will stay till you say yes."

Severus thought he could feel heat from inside, "I think somewhere along the way, with all the watching and waiting I fell deeper."

Harry closed his hand around Severus' and the darkness vanished. "Welcome home."

Severus smiled reluctantly, "Home." he tasted the word on his lips, it seemed foreign.

"Home." proclaimed Harry dragging Severus through old stone walls feet above moving stairwells and torch lit hallways.
