Title: Blessing of the Black Rose

Word count: 268

Fandom: Fullmetal Alchemist

Summery: A black rose symbolizes death, and they had been blessed by its petals.

Disclaimer: Just my version of what could happen in FMA with my own twist. I do no own.

Notes: Written at 2AM when I should be sleeping because I have an SAT class in a few hours. For Winter Sonata readers, between SAT classes, the insane amount of schoolwork, and my emotional instability, Winter Sonata will not be updated until October in the earliest, November in the latest. Enjoy.

He had that day, out of desperation, transmuted a black rose.

He saw a way out; he saw a way to escape. She hadn't.

So when she pulled the gun out to shoot, he reached out and used the metal that made up her gun as a conduct and transmuted the bullet, not really thinking what to change it into, his only goal to keep both of them alive.

When she pulled the trigger, there was no bullet, but a spray of black rose petals.

A gun used to kill in order to protect jetting out a flow of black rose petals symbolizing death, blessing the trio with her horrible yet merciful gift.

They stood there. The markswoman. The Alchemist. The Intended Victim. They stood there watching the petals flit slowly to the ground, felt them falling on their heads, felt death coming for them.

One of them would not make it out alive. They watched the last petal, floating down, land on a head. They had been blessed by the black rose.

As the petal fell, a fourth person entered the scene. The Killer and his companion, Death.

"Taisa," her voice came. No matter how many lives she had taken, her voice managed to stay even.

The two walked away to file a death report. A wanted murderer who had been intent on killing the Flame Alchemist had accidentally involved a civilian, who while caught in the crossfire, had unfortunately been killed.

Or at least, that was the story that would be told.

Restoring a country came at a price.

A price almost too high to pay.
