AN: this is a more romantic story than my others, I'm sorry if I'm going against any myths here; I only know what we studied in English and a little more...here we go! OH! And before I forget; this is meant to read after Onyx. My stories can be read in any order after Onyx.
Something Fishy
There once was a woman called Leniea who was exceedingly beautiful that lived in the countryside. She was striking with the most golden of hair and the slimmest of faces. Apollo enjoyed looking upon her, as did the other gods, and she charmed everyone she met. One day there was a man who complemented her on her beauty in the black wool dress she was wearing. She smiled and replied demurely,
"I am greatly honored, kind sir."
"If not for your silken blonde hair, you could be mistaken for the goddess of darkness herself." He told Leniea.
"There is no comparison." She replied haughtily, dropping her act. Onyx had heard her remark and was angered by the girl's arrogance. It didn't help matters much that she was jealous of Leniea's beauty. Taking the form of a young girl with long black hair and a pale face she walked up to Leniea.
"You shouldn't talk like that about the goddess! She might get angry." Onyx said innocently with a sweet face.
"Leave the decisions to your elders, girl." Was Leniea's response.
"You'll regret that." With that said, Onyx took her true form. Surprisingly, Leniea was not frightened.
"Do you think you're more beautiful, more intelligent than the gods?" Onyx was beginning to become annoyed with Leniea's behavior.
"Yes."
"I challenge you to a battle of wits. The one to figure out two of three riddles wins."
"I accept your challenge."
They were told the first riddle, which Leniea guessed correctly. The second was won by Onyx.
"The tie breaker, please?" Onyx asked the man who was next up to create a riddle. The man thought for a second and started his enigma. Both women were stumped. After a few minutes of heavy thought Leniea stepped forward. She paused and guessed,
"Me." The man's question had been: 'What is the most beautiful thing under the sun?' Leniea's answer was 'self absorbed' to quote Onyx's thoughts at the moment.
"I'm sorry. Goddess?" Onyx paused for a minute and smiled.
"The Earth." The man smiled and nodded.
"NO!!" Leniea shouted, rather loudly, as she attacked Onyx.
"That is unladylike behavior, you'd do well to cease your actions." They both turned to face the man behind them, who had just appeared. The man startled them by transforming into the god of sun, Apollo. Leniea was entranced by his beauty.
(The man wasn't the one who gave them the riddle; sorry for the confusion)
"I am sorry." She said, dazed.
"No, you are not." As he said that Apollo sprinkled Leniea with silvery dust from a pouch on his belt. Leniea's silky hair covered her body as she shrunk. The hair became hard and turned to scales, her eyes bulged out and widened. Her teeth, once straight, became long, pointed, and crooked and her nose became a lure on what had been her forehead. Onyx threw the creature into the sea and turned to Apollo.
"We had best get home before anyone notices we're missing." They wlaked back to Mt. Olympus hand-in-hand and from that day on there was an ugly anglerfish sulking in the darkest pits of the ocean avoiding other creatures in hopes to hide the evidence of her idiocy.
AN: Review! Lol. Hope you liked it... this one is definitely one of my favorites! And it's longer!
