The DEFINITION OF FRIENDSHIP
When Kuroo first met Bokuto, he didn't have his dumb wacky owl hairstyle.
In fact, it was several months after their friendship had formed that Bokuto started using a tub of wax every single day to maintain the monstrosity that was his hair.
What Kuroo never got was why.
If he had hair that could actuallybe tamed into something presentable, there was no way he'd ever do something stupid like turn into a rat's nest. On purpose. He doesn't get why Bokuto wastes both time and money on something that looks ridiculous.
Though, he can't really say anything when his own black locks look like they've been licked into oblivion by a metaphorical cow.
One time he sleeps over at Bokuto's on the weekend, and he wakes up to Bokuto using an entire tub of wax just to get his hair to stand up.
He frowns.
"Bro, that hairstyle isn't even cool, I just don't get why you're so committed to it," He tells him from his futon on the floor. He's still not fully awake so he only rolls on to his back to look up at Bokuto.
Bokuto huffs, "It so is cool!" He nudges Kuroo's head with his foot and Kuroo swats at it. Bokuto grins and then pounces on him. Several failed attempts at wrestling moves later, they're both on their backs and panting.
"Seriously though," Kuroo props his head in his palm and looks at Bokuto, "There has to be a reason why."
Bokuto eyes the ceiling in contemplation. He seems to be thinking about it and Kuroo doesn't know how much longer he can hold in his laugh at the thinking face Bokuto has when he says, "Well, you're always worried about your hair even though I think it's cool and I guess," Bokuto looks at him and grins, "Well I guess I didn't want you to be the only one with a wacky hairstyle."
Kuroo then realizes that Bokuto had been spending an extra hour in the morning for him. So he wouldn't be alone. So when people laughed, they laughed at them together.
He realizes that—, "You're such a sap, bro."
"Hey!"
He lets Bokuto hit him while he fights down the grin on his face. He's happy he met Bokuto and, even though he's an idiot, he's grateful for him.
After all, Bokuto's the best bro any guy could ask for.
