Meet Me On The Equinox
By SMYGO4EVA
"Hey - wizard."
Fai snapped out of his latest moment of staring into space. He turned and could see Kurogane standing next to him, his armed crossed with a mix of forced composure.
Putting on his usual smile, Fai replied, "Yes, Kuro-puu? What is it?"
"I just want to make one thing clear." The warrior exclaimed, more to himself than to the mage. "If you don't want to talk about your past, that's fine by me. I don't give a shit."
At this, Fai had to raise an eyebrow. "Oh really? What makes you so sure that I won't tell you?" The magician looked at his lap, his hands clasped together in a peaceful approach. "But, if you don't want to know…"
"You can do whatever you want. I really don't care. All I know is that your past makes you who you are, and you can't amount to anything else if you don't get past it, whatever the hell happened to you anyway." Kurogane firmly stated, his fingers tightly clenched around his forearm while saying this. "I don't like associating myself with cowards."
"You make a very strong point, Kuro-chan."
A vein appeared on Kurogane's forehead. "And quit it with the nicknames! It's really annoying."
"Oh you don't mean that, Kuro-rin…" Fai's smile stretched a little more, out of both amusement and a desire to end the charade he was currently playing on the warrior.
"Whatever." Kurogane curtly replied, an edge to his voice.
With that being said, the steadfast warrior left, leaving a surprised wizard in his wake. What really perplexed the wizard, this time anyway wasn't that Kurogane was curious about his past, but the fact that he actually cared, that he'd discard his own interrogative curiosity just for his sake.
Fai closed his eyes, pulled his fedora a little bit over them, and said to himself, quietly as not to disturb anyone, or give Kurogane any reason to come back,
"You really have me figured out, don't you…Kurogane?"
