Wake up Call

Link's P.O.V

A man on a black stallion rode out of the castle gates, with a young girl on he horse with him. The girl, looking terrified, threw something into the castle moat. The man turns to look at me with piercing red eyes and grins. He laughs evilly, and the sound echoes throughout the field…

"Link! Link! WAKEUP LINK!" I open my eyes, still trembling from the nightmare. "Good, you're finally awake. It took forever waking you up!"

I look around to see who's yelling irritably at me, but I don't see anyone. "I'm down here idiot!" Looking down I see a tiny blue fairy hovering above my bed. Wandering whose fairy she is, I open my mouth to ask my question.

"Before you even ask, my name is Navi. And I'm YOUR fairy. The Great Deku Tree sent me to get you, and to help you out."

Confused, I close my eyes to think. In Kokiri Forest, every kid has a fairy. The small forest town is run by a tree known as The Great Deku Tree. He speaks to us children of the town, and gives us advice when we need it. Basically, he is the parent of everyone. He also assigns everyone fairies, who are their life long partner. We have a very long life, as we stop aging when we turn 13. So, technically some people are about 100, while some are 30. Either way, we all look the same age.

The children have been there forever, and always will be. I was brought into Kokiri Forest when I was a baby, and I really am 13 years old. And still growing, which wasn't right for a Kokiri. Well, I guess I can't really consider myself a Kokiri; I wasn't born here. And I never had a fairy, until now that is. I'm not the only one who grows past 13 though. Saria grows.

Saria… my best friend. The one I promised I would meet in the Lost Woods this morning. Forgetting everything else, I jump off of my bed and look out the window. The sun is high in the sky, it's late afternoon.

Turning towards the door, Navi says "Um, Link? You might wanna get dressed first." I throw on my tunic, leggings, and boots, (official Kokiri wear) and grab my hat as I exit my tree house.

"Hey! Link!" I heard as I started climbing down the ladder. Jumping the rest of the way down, I walk over to where Saria was standing. She looked upset, with her best pouty face on.

Saria's P.O.V

I tried to look mad as Link walked over, but of course I couldn't. I always sort of smiled when he was around. "Saria, I'm so sorry. I overslept." he said. "You always do" I mutter. "I'm REALLY sorry." he says again. I can't stay mad at him. "It's ok, let's go now." "Wait! Link! First you have to come with me to The Great Deku Tree!" a fairy comes out from behind him yelling at him. Wait, since when does Link have a fairy?

Link gives her an annoyed look and says "Listen Navi, first I have to go with Saria. She's like a little sister to me, and I can't break a promise to her."

A sister. That's all I'll ever be to him.

"Well she can wait! This is very important!" Navi snapped back. I'm really starting to hate that fairy. "Saria, I'm sorry, but you'll have to wait a little while. The Great Deku Tree needs to see me. I promise we'll hang out later." Link says, before walking away.

"Ok" I murmur, running my fingers through my long green hair as I watch him walk away. "Saria, do you like him?" Gem, my fairy, asks. "Well, yeah. I mean, his eyes are so blue, like the pond in the Lost Woods. And his hair is the color of sand, when it falls out of his hat like that it's so adorable!" I answer. "You should tell him" Gem replies. Yeah, like I'm gonna do that.
