DISCLAIMER: I do not own inuyasha (Sob!)

Kagome was basking in the sun a little ways from the well, when she wondered what Inuyasha did in that tree of his.

Every time we come back to the village he always goes to the same tree, why? determined to find out, Kagome walked a little distance until she came upon the tree Inuyasha sat in. She grunted as she lifted herself up onto the lowest branch, stood up and prepared to grab the next one, a lot of tugs, pulls, and branches later Kagome was almost to the branch where Inuyasha sat.

She looked down and started to feel a little woozy, he sure climbs high enough she thought as she finally pulled herself onto the last branch. Kagome took in the scenery for a couple of minutes when something caught her eye, one part of the tree trunk was completely covered in scratch marks.

"What the... does Inuyasha claw this tree for fun?" she whispered.

No that can't be it, they look more like tally marks now she thought as she ran her hand over three long etches. She looked closer and realised that two lines were written one above a long line of marks, and one above a continuous line of three lines. (you know three lines space than three lines and another space and so on and so on)

In terribly wobbly writing atop of the marks it read 'Kagome here' "kagome at home' all the tally marks are days I've spent with him and without him she thought mesmerized by what he had done. She started to try and count all of them but there were so many Kagome put three fingers over the marks where Inuyasha's claw's would have been.

All of a sudden a weird mist surrounded the tree and a faded image of Inuyasha appeared right next to Kagome he put his hand over her's and started to lean towards her.

"Um... Inuyasha...?"

"Kagome!" he said in an urgent voice,

"Kagome it's time to wake up!"

"What do you mean?" she asked the fading image of Inuyasha when the tree started to shake badly.

"What is going on?" she half asked half shouted the whirl wind of air,

"Wake up dear or you'll be late for school" Kagome's mother told her.

"wha..?" kagome mumbled as she opened her eyes,

"I said you're going to be late for school dear."

"oh... thanks mom" she called as her mother walked out into the hall so it was just a dream... she laughed as she thought of Inuyasha ever doing such a touching thing, though a little saddened that it been a dream she turned on her heel, still smiling and made way for the bathroom.

Back in feudal Japan someone scratched another long line into an old tree trunk,

"Two more days Kagome, Two more damn days" he said into thin air. He heard a rustle of leaves and the crunching of footsteps, so he turned on the branch and took off like a flash leaving a streak of red and a strand of silver hair.

A/N: now who it was? I think the silver hair gave it away. review!
