Hello, Deckerstars! I was watching the Grammy's salute to the BeeGees, and I can't get the song "Immortality" out of my head. So I figured that it would make for a great Deckerstar one-shot. It's a bit on the angsty side, but there is comfort in the end. I also gave Lucifer his wings back. Hope you enjoy, and Lucifer returns in 11 days! So exciting! (Note: reviews welcome. Flames stay away s'il vous plait)
A lone figure sits in the living room of a beautiful penthouse above a popular Los Angeles nightclub. His large, white wings spread out behind his hunched figure. Streaks of tears rolled down his handsome face as he mourned the loss of his love.
"Why Dad?! Why must you take her from me?! How much pain and suffering do you think I can take?!" Lucifer all but screamed up at the ceiling. The former Prince of Darkness had watched his beloved Detective Decker get shot in the line of duty. They were chasing a suspect through an alleyway when the perp opened fire and killed the detective, the bullet piercing her heart. He had tried desperately to keep her alive until the paramedics got here, but by the time they did, it was too late. He held onto the cold body of his Chloe close to his chest, sobbing his broken soul out. The paramedics tried to pry his hands free, but Lucifer held on like a vice.
"Let the paramedics take her, Lucifer," Maze crooned. "I don't want to." The King of Hell said in a child-like voice. The demoness sighed as she put two hands on her former master's shoulders. "Please, Lucifer. You wouldn't be able to bring your detective back even if you tried. She's with your Father now." The Lord of Hell's hold on the detective's lifeless body tightened at the mention of his Father.
He then loosened his grip, letting Detective Decker's body fall unceremoniously onto the asphalt. The paramedics then took the chance to take the body and load it into the ambulance to be taken to the city morgue. The fallen angel held back his tears as he stood in the back of the group of people that showed up for the funeral. Detective Douche, Penelope Decker, and the spawn were in the front. The fallen angel couldn't bring himself to stand with them knowing that he had failed to save her. It should've been me in that coffin, not Chloe. Lucifer thought miserably. When the coffin that contained his precious Chloe is lowered to the ground, Lucifer walked away from the gravesite with a heavy heart and flew back to his penthouse to grieve in peace.
The former Lightbringer then got up from his seat and turned on his stereo system. The familiar melody of the song "Immortality" echoed through the penthouse, easing some of the hurt that eclipsed his shattered heart. As the song drew to a close, Lucifer shed a tear at the song's final verse.
Immortality
There is a vision and a fire in me
I keep the memory of you and me, inside
And we don't say goodbye
We don't say goodbye
With all my love for you
And what else we may do
We don't say, goodbye.
"We will find each other again, my darling Chloe. I promise you." The King of Hell vowed as the final chords of the song faded into the void.
The End.
