"So, Mom, what are you an George planning for this evening?" Casey asked, sitting next to her mother at the counter.

"Well, Edwin and Lizzie have their open house for school tonight, so George and I are going to that." Nora replied, looking up from the notes she was making on a presentation for next week. "That reminds me, can I just leave you money to get some takeout for dinner? I think they're having a picnic at the soccer field afterwards, so we'll just eat there."

"Sounds good." Casey said, grinning. "So, you'll be gone by seven?"

"Yes." Nora said, eyeing her eldest daughter. "Why, what are you up to tonight?"

"Uhm, nothing, just wondering." Casey said, smiling to placate her mother and then leaving the kitchen as fast as she could.

--

"So I'm assuming you have plans tonight." Casey said, standing in Derek's doorway. Derek removed his headphones and looked at Casey.

"Yeah." Derek said. "Why? Since when have my weekend activities ever involved you?"

"I was just wondering – because, uhm, Mom's not cooking, just leaving money for dinner, and I wasn't sure if she'd need to leave money for you too." Casey said. "Uh, so have fun tonight." Casey said, turning on her heel and heading to her room.

Derek shook his head as he watched her leave, then put his headphones back on a picked up a magazine laying on the bed next to him.

--

"Oh, uh, I thought you'd already left." Casey said as she ran into Derek exiting his room as she left hers.

"No." Derek said, looking at Casey. "I thought you were out getting dinner or something." He replied, avoiding her gaze.

"Nope, just heading downstairs." Casey said, breaking from their standstill and walking down the stairs. Derek reluctantly followed behind her.

"Can I help you with something?" Casey said as she grabbed the remote and sat down on the couch. "I thought you had plans."

"Right, plans." Derek said, nodding. "My plans involved the TV." Derek said, nodding towards the TV.

"Oh." Casey replied. "What were you going to watch?"

"Never mind. I'll watch it when it reruns." Derek said, turning to leave.

"Wait!" Casey said, causing Derek to pause. "You never just give up the TV."

"Whatever. It's not like I don't have other things to do. I'm sure whatever you're watching is the highlight of your weekend."

"Okay. Bye." Casey said, turning back to the TV.

"Wait, you never just let me insult you!"

"De-rek! Shut up, it's starting!" Casey said as the music started.

"High School Musical?" Derek chuckled.

"High School Musical Two, actually." Casey retorted, glaring in Derek's direction. "And you don't have to watch it, so stop complaining." She turned back to the TV.

"Uhm, Case?" Derek said. Casey glanced at Derek. "Can – can I watch it with you?"

"Really?" Casey asked, laughing. Derek nodded. "Sure."

Derek grinned and sat down in his recliner. "You tell anyone and die."

"I won't if you won't." Casey said as Troy filled the screen.

--

"So what did you two do tonight?" Nora said as she helped Casey load the washing machine while Derek finished off some cookies in the kitchen.

"Nothing." Casey and Derek answered at the same time, then glanced at one another across the room.

"I don't even want to know." Nora sighed, shaking her head.

Derek and Casey just grinned.
