The Pun

Remus POV

While we were at Hogwarts, it was Sirius' favorite joke. I've heard this joke to many times to count. By the end of the First Year James and I had vowed never to say "I'm serious" or any variation again. We had the suspicion the teachers took a similar vow for the next 6 years. As much as Sirius insisted he was "serious," he was the exact opposite. I can't remember him ever doing homework and his bark like laughter was contagious. Laughter and smiles were the only things ever present on his face. Now, however, I haven't seen him smile once. His once handsome face wasted away in Azkaban. I'm afraid that his laughter and personality have wasted away in Azkaban too. I wonder if Sirius has finally become serious.

Currently we are all just sitting in the kitchen Grimmauld Place, Sirius, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Bill, Tonks, and I. We were talking about random things like who's in the order now compared to the last time. Then someone said it, "I'm being serious!" and I instantly look at Sirius expectantly. I see his old Marauder smirk over brighten up his face. He says, "No, I'm Sirius." They all laugh at the witty remark. I laugh because I know that Azkaban has not robbed Sirius of everything. Sirius is still not serious, because some things never change.
