A bright light. My brother's screams. Blood. And...a creature...no. Not a creature. An abomination. A sin against all things, living and dead. My stomache lurched as it gasped my name.
"Ed...ward..."
I screamed. Nothing entered or left my mind as my eyes locked with those of the grotesque pile of flesh. With every one of it's breaths it's lungs could be seen expanding before quickly shrinking again. Nothing seemed to exist in the world except for me and the sin against God that I had foolishly created. I continued screaming until my throat was raw. Suddenly, the violet eyes that had been watching me, and I them, blankened. It's mouth sagged, and it's lungs filled no more . It was dead once again.
Firm, leathery hands grabbed my upper arms in a tight grip.
"Onii-san!"
My eyes snapped open. As I looked into the expressionless face of the suit of armor, my thrashing subsided and I stopped screaming.
"Al...it...I..."
"It's alright, brother. It was just a bad dream."
My younger sibling tried to calm me down; it wasn't working.
"Al...I couldn't...I..."
I choked, trying to fight back the tears that were brimming my eyes. Al hushed me and brought me closer to him in a hug. The cool armor felt good against my hot skin.
"Al..."
I murmered, my eyelids feeling heavy once again. As I closed my eyes, the tears that had been held back escaped, blending with the sweat that covered me. Al seemed to understand what I was trying to say, because he hugged me tighter.
"It's ok, Ed. It wasn't your fault."
