Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

AN: I'm trying to watch this show because I feel uncultured without it. I'm only on season one so...yeahhh.

Buffy looked in the mirror at herself as Mr. Giles's words still rung in her head. They're not human. They may act human and look human (most of the time) but they're not. She thought of Angel. He looked human. He acted human. He saved her. He protected her from other vampires but, according to Giles he was not human. Did he want to drink her blood? Did her want to kill her? Her mother? Her friends? She shook her head as she returned to brushing her hair, allowing the thoughts and problems of the day to drop from her with each knot that fell from her hair. But as she put her brush down and shut her eyes to yawn she was unaware as someone slipped in the window. She rubbed her tired eyes as she took one last look in the mirror only to start at the face staring back at her. The guy was half her problems and took up a fair portion of her diary. His face softened in amusement, or maybe bemusement. "Did I scare you?" He asked quietly as she tried to get her heart rate back under control.

"No." She lied. Badly. "What do you want?" She asked tiredly. She was desperate for a good night's sleep after nights, kept up late with training, and vampires, and the imminent end of the world, and demons and, worst of all, homework. For once, she was allowed sleep and here was Angel to ruin that.

"I was in the neighborhood." He said casually as he looked out the window.

"Sure. So…I'm going to sleep. If you're staying grab a pillow and make yourself comfortable on the floor. If not, you can let yourself out." She mumbled sleepily as she scrambled into her bed. She felt his eyes on her but forced her mind to fall silent as her eyes slid shut. After a long wile of trying desperately to fall asleep she sat up in bed with a huff only to find herself alone. The curtains fluttered slightly and she sighed sadly as she flopped back down again. He was sitting on the roof with his eyes shut, just wishing he weren't this monster, just wishing he were normal, or at least not her chosen prey. "Goodnight Angel." He heard her mumble quietly. Her guardian angel.

"Goodnight Buffy." He whispered.
