16 years ago:

Thayet walked out of the Riders' Mess Hall, she'd just finished with the trainees and was walking back to the palace. Halfway there she heard a cry. The cry sounded like that of a baby. The Queen brushed away the grass and found a girl child infant, wrapped in a bleached white cloth, lying there. Her motherly instincts took over and she grabbed the baby and ran, as fast as she could, to the castle...

4 years later:

King Jonathan IV and his Queen sat in the king's study arguing about who should take the child, who was about 5 now. Currently, she was being brought up by a royal nursemaid. The King wanted her to go to his 1st in command, Raoul of Goldenlake and Malorie's Peak, But the Queen wanted the child to be entrusted to the K'mir, Buriram Tourakom, her former bodyguard and co-commander of the Queen's Riders.

Not being able to reach a decision, they gave the girl child to BOTH of them. And thus our story begins with the adoptive child of Buri and Raoul of Goldenlake & Malorie's Peak...
