"I believe I have your attention, benders of Republic City. So once again, the Wolfbats are your pro-bending champions. It seems fitting that you celebrate three bullies who..." The masked man, better known as Amon, started, but interrupted by a voice calling out from above
"Ya know, if you're gonna attack a place it's not really a good idea to announce it to everyone." The voice said as Amon looked up just in time to see a black streak which then hit him in the face.
"Get ready for a beat down from your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!" His attacker shouted. It was the Spider-Man himself. This was the first time anyone had seen him in the light before and it was interesting to say the least. He wore red and blue tights, with a black web pattern on the red parts of the costume, and a mask that completely covered his head with two large white lenses covering his eyes.
The Spider-Man then went about dodging electrical blasts from the Equalists who had gotten over their shock and had begun attacking.
"Hey, take it easy fellas I'm not going anywhere!" The Spider-Man said as he flipped around the arena, kicking and punching Equalists as he went. Amon watched on in amazement. This Spider-Man was taking his men down with one or two hits, and his fighting style was unlike anything Amon had seen. It was clear he didn't have formal training, that much was obvious due to his sloppy stances and attacks, and yet there he was mopping the proverbial floor with his finest men.
"You know? This is the most fun I've had in a long while. In fact it's about as much fun as a little old Spider-Man can have without laughing!" The arachnid hero quipped as he fired a webline from his hand at Amon's Lieutenant, hitting him in the face with it and spinning him around before letting go of the webline and sending him flying out of the arena and into a wall, followed by the Lieutenant falling down into the waters below.
"You clearly aren't a bender Spider-Man. You could be a great asset to the Equalists. Imagine what we could accomplish together. What we could create." Amon said as he approached the masked marvel.
"You see I don't really agree with your whole 'Benders are evil' thing, just makes you look like you got an inferiority complex." The Spider-Man quipped as he crouched, ready for whatever Amon had planned.
"Surely you have to realize that benders posses unnatural power." Amon pushed, as Spider-Man lunged at him. He moved like a streak of light, tackling Amon to the ground before flipping him over and slamming him down hard onto the cold metal floor.
"It ain't the power, it's the responsibility you've got to worry about and it's my responsibility to beat the crap out of two-bit crooks like you." Spider-Man said, as Amon grunted, slowly getting up.
"Hey! Spider-Guy a little help?" Korra called from the other side of the arena where she and her teammates were still tied up. Spider-Man quickly swung over to the Fire Ferrets and tore their ropes off with his bare hands.
"For future reference it's Spider-Man. The 'the' at the beginning is optional though." The Web-Head corrected just as a large war balloon smashed down and many more Equalists repelled down to retrieve their fallen brothers-in-arms. Amon leaped up on a platform that lowered from the balloon, an Equalist placing his unconscious Lieutenant on it as well. The balloon then began to rise, Amon and his forces retreating.
Suddenly Spider-Man flinched a little, one hand clutching his head.
"EVERYONE BRACE YOURSELVES!" The Spider-Man yelled as moments later bombs went off all around the arena.
"I'm going after Amon!" Korra said as she jumped into the water below the arena and waterbent herself up to Amon, but soon ran out of water and began to fall. The Avatar fell through the air, before she felt someone catch her. She looked and saw it was Spider-Man, swinging on a webline.
"Hmm, you know I could get used to this." The vigilante said as he held Korra tight, swinging down to the arena floor and landing safely.
"Well, not too shabby if I say so myself." Spider-Man said as he patted his gloved hands together, as if to shake off dirt.
"What are you talking about?! Amon got away! The entire arena is a wreck! Tahno and his team got their bending taken! How is this a good thing?!" Korra snapped at the masked vigilante who just shrugged slightly.
"Well I stopped him from getting to you and your team and a lot of the other teams here. That seems like a good day. After all, buildings can be replaced but people can't." Spider-Man said as Korra relaxed a bit, seeing his point. At this point Chief Beifong swung down on a metal cable and wrapped another around Spider-Man.
"Spider-Man, you are under arrest." Lin said as Spider-Man just sighed.
"Alright, you got me fair and square..." Spider-Man began as he tensed himself a bit.
"But nothing says I have to play fair." The masked marvel said as he then broke the cable around him and leaped off into the air, firing a webline and swinging out of the large hole in the ceiling Amon left behind.
"I'm starting to hate that punk." Lin said as she then ordered her officers who were starting to wake up to create a perimeter and follow after the vigilante.
After everyone had been checked over and questioned, Korra shuffled out of the now closed down Arena. Mako and Bolin were left homeless now, but Asami had offered to let them stay with her. Korra was happy about that, but still she felt so powerless right now. After all, she had Amon right in front of her and couldn't do a thing to stop him. Spider-Man was the hero today, not her. Suddenly she heard rapid footsteps approaching her and looked behind to see a young man running up to her.
"Hey Avatar Korra right? I was wondering if I could get a few pictures and a few questions? I didn't get much chance to before the matches and with the press swarming the place now..." The young man began, causing Korra to sigh. She looked at the man that was now walking to the left of her. Brown hair and light brown eyes, a pretty ordinary build, in short a pretty average looking all around. He had a camera around his neck and a press tag pinned to his light blue shirt.
"Sorry, not in the mood for questions right now." Korra said as she walked a bit faster to loose him, though he kept up with her.
"Uh, okay that's fine but I was wondering if I could at least get a few pictures? I'll catch hell from my boss if I don't." The , though she didn't notice it as she kept her eyes fixated on the ground as she walked.
"Fine, anything beats dealing with Spider-Man." Korra said as she stopped, walking to allow the man to take the picture.
"You don't like Spider-Man?" The photographer said, getting his camera ready.
"He was the most annoying person I've ever met." Korra said grimmacing at the memory of the brightly colored vigilante, causing the young man to almost drop his camera.
"Annoying?!" The photographer exclaimed, almost sounding offended. Fortunately Korra was wrapped up in her own thoughts she didn't notice.
"Well, what about how he took down all those Equalists? And that web thing? You have to admit that was just cool." The photographer said, almost like he was trying to sell something.
"Well yeah that was... Wait, how did you know he did all that?" Korra asked, knowing everyone in the stands was knocked out. The photographer got a paled look on his face as he cleared his throat a little.
"Well I, uh, I hid in the janitor's closet when everything started going down and came out when I stopped hearing all the screaming. I figured it was over then and I saw Spider-Man putting those Equalists through the wringer." He somewhat stuttered out.
"Oh, okay. Anyway like I was saying he was kind of impressive, but he talked way too much. I thought he supposed to be some vigilante trying to make the streets safer before, but now? I honestly think he's just some reject from the circus looking for kicks and attention." Korra said as a camera flash brought her back into the present.
"Well that should keep ol' Jong-Jong-Jing happy... Well less angry than usual at any rate." The young man said as he held his hand out for Korra to shake.
"Been nice meeting you Avatar Korra and thanks." He said, as Korra smiled a little and shook his hand. She had to admit, he was probably the nicest person from the press she had run into. Looking at him she could tell he probably didn't get paid much with his rather ragged clothes and older model of camera.
"Same here and... If you ever want an interview I'm free." Korra said, taking mercy on the young man. After all, if he kept this nice attitude up it could be the first interview she could say she enjoyed giving.
"Really, that's great! Oh, here's the number for the Daily Horn. I'm there most days. Just call whenever you have time and as for Yu Komori." He said, handing Korra a piece of paper that he just scribbled a number on.
"Will do. Take care of yourself Yu." Korra said as she rode off. Yu smiled as he walked further down the street and came across his red moped. Putting on his helmet he rode off into the night, a smile on his face.
PLEASE REVIEW!
Yeah this is a MASSIVE rewrite. I just want you all to know that I only did this because I was so stuck on where to go with the first draft that I decided the best thing was to just rework everything a bit. Hope you still like it.
