"Gone"
A Kingdom Hearts one-shot by Romancing Heartbreak
Axel sighed, running a hand through the crimson locks that constantly stood up, defying gravity. He smirked, but it soon fell. It was the one thing that constantly consumed his thoughts. He was known as the witty, care-free, sarcastic guy. The one who never gave a shit. Contrary to popular belief, this was not so.
How is it possible? Is it even possible?
But, oh, how he wished it was true. It was the one thing that the Organization XIII was always divided on. Some thought they did, and some thought they didn't. Some just hadn't decided upon their opinion yet. Axel was among those who were non-believers. He believed Nobodies did not have a heart. But, at the same time, he couldn't help but wonder.
If we don't have hearts, why is it I feel this way? How is it possible?
It was something he felt. Something he had only heard of from others. He had never felt it as a human that he knew of. He had only heard stories about it. He had never felt it, that he knew of. Was this what it felt like? This overwhelming feeling? The feeling that remained unaffected by his anger, his bitterness? But he didn't know how he could feel it, if he didn't have a heart.
I want to believe it's true, but I can't help but have my doubts.
The Organization could never decide on one solid opinion. Some believed the same as Axel did, or appeared to. Some, like Demyx, had a solid belief that Nobodies had hearts. But where's the proof? The rest either hadn't decided, or wanted to keep their own opinions out of it. Axel frowned. He and Demyx were constantly at each other's throats about the issue. His own constant pessimistic view aggravated Demyx to no end. Demyx's constantly optimistic attitude make Axel want to choke him. Demyx was his best friend, the one he could go to when Roxas wasn't there.
Roxas.
Axel smiled softly, his right hand idly twirling a chakram as he sat on his bed. His heart skipped a beat at the thought. The smile quickly dissipated. The feeling was brought to the forefront of Axel's mind once more. What was it he felt? Why was it his heart sped up, and a smile was brought to his face at the mere thought of that name? Roxas? Axel froze. Could that be it? His lips parted in his shock, air rushing through them as he gasped. Could he….love him? Axel stood up and began to pace the room.
No. No. It's not possible. We don't have hearts. How can I love him if I have no heart?! It's not possible!
Axel's pace slowed as he abruptly changed his thoughts back to Roxas. A smile graced his face. He could picture him perfectly in his mind. The golden hair that refused to lay flat. The cerulean blue eyes that sparkled no matter what the blonde was feeling. The perfect pale skin. Everything about him, Axel could remember. In Axel's emerald eyes, Roxas was perfect.
I guess I do....love him.
His acceptance soon turned to rage and sorrow when he remembered that Roxas was gone. Axel's breathing became labored as his eyes narrowed, sparkling with unshed tears. Screaming, he flung a chakram at the wall, fire trailing it, embedding itself into the wall. Axel fell to his knees, his head tilted downward. A sob escaped his parted lips. He would never see Roxas again. He was gone. A single tear trailed down Axel's cheek as his heart broke.
