David McCoy tended the fire in the fireplace of the great room then made himself comfortable on the couch between his wife Martha and his son Leonard. He said, "I have a great story to tell you all about your Grandma McCoy and her brothers. You know how your Uncles love to sit down by the fire after dinner and tell tall tales. Well, this one evening they were telling tall tales about driving big rig ground trucks for their Daddy's company when the company transporter would break down. Where Charles ever got those dinosaurs, big rig ground trucks I'll never know, but they came in handy in emergency situations when he had to make a delivery down the mountain. Well, the stories they told were believable at first and quite amusing. As time went on the stories became so unbelievable and stupid that I became disgusted. None of them wanted to stop trying to out do each other! Finally I couldn't stand it anymore. I was about to get up and leave the room."

"Suddenly your Grandma spoke up and said, 'I drove a big rig ground truck once.'"

"Did they laugh at her?", questioned Leonard.

"No, they took her seriously and encouraged her to continue with her tall tale." The McCoy family snickered. "She said she was doing fine until she came to the section of the road that becomes a steep, downward incline. When she stepped on the breaks to slow down, she found that they didn't work. The heavy ground truck began to pick up speed and it was getting more and more difficult to keep it on the curvy mountain road. Any minute she could lose control and go over the edge into oblivion. She did the best that she could but finally she lost control of the ground truck and went over the edge of the road! Having said that, she turned around and started to walk into the kitchen. Her brothers all spoke at once, asking her to tell what happened next. She turned around and said, 'What? Oh! I landed on the road below and just kept on driving.'"

The family laughed hard, then Michael inquired, "I bet that ticked her brothers' off."

"Most definitely, Michael, but you know what? They never got so ridiculous in their tall tales after that."

"They probably figured Grandma would out do them again," added Leonard with a grin.

"No doubt about it, Len, no doubt at all."
