This idea of the forest spirit being reborn has been stuck in my head for weeks!

Disclaimer: I do not own Princess Mononokie, Hayao Myazaki does.

In the perfect quiet of the aged forest, there dared to be a tiny ripple, in that small lake.

A strange wind tickled the ancient trees and shook the moss that lay on the cold ground, as if the wind itself was calling all of the creatures of the forest to come and see.

All the Kodama clicked their heads and the wolves gathered.

All of the sudden, out of the dark depths of the water IT came.

The one who would revive and destroy all.

A small fawn, with a human face swam to the surface.

Fresh water clung to it's soft brown fur.

Horns began to sprout out of it's forehead.

The fawn looked around at all of the creatures put into it's care.

And gave a slight smile.

The trees and mountains seemed to bow down toit's will.

And then everything was still as the fawn took it's first breath.

San rubbed her brother's nose and said in a low growl. "So it begins."
