A Lack Of Colour
Summary:
And when I see you, I really see you upside down. But my brain knows better,
it picks you up and turns you around
Post-The Dearly Beloved. Ryan POV.
A/N: This is just a POV from Ryan. It's pretty depressing but I think it's apt. I hope so anyway. The title and summary are from The Death Cab Cutie (Seth's fave band) song 'A Lack Of Colour'.
A/N: Disclaimer: It's on my user page.
Life isn't black and white. Everyone knows that. Ryan knows it.
There's no more blue sparkle of mischief to match his own.
No more dark brown hair that reminded him of home.
No more sunshine in a smile that told him he was safe.
No big brother holding him up.
No big brother pushing him to the ground.
There is no laughter of a man who was strong, a man he admired.
That man was weak.
That man hurt him and all for what?
A girl.
That's what.
There will be no more life to fill that face that he knew so well.
So many platitudes from them, as if they knew him. They only think they do. With their accusations and staring eyes.
Whispering mouths.
He can't be with Marissa now, of course.
It would eat away at them. The chasm that's always been between them will grow and engulf them completely.
Maybe he should just head back to Chino. It'll be easier there, no staring. No whispers of pity.
Above all, they were family and family don't do what Trey did.
Ryan knew Trey.
Or so he thought.
Yeah, it's true.
Life isn't black and white.
It's grey.
