"God save us sinful children of Ivalice." – Princess Ovelia Atkascha
Sin. The many worlds and dimensions of the universe are written in the sins, virtues, and hearts of the people. Serpentarius is a sin; the power of the cosmos held in a supposed Holy Stone, which should never have been harnessed.
A blight on the world, Serpentarius is a lost Zodiac Sign; lost to humanity, lost to monster-kind, lost to all but the stars that embody it. But it does exist, even as it shouldn't, and Serpentarius had claimed one man as it's own vessel, to contain it's ever brimming power on our world of Ivalice, to bring about the destruction of all it saw fit to destroy.
Elidibs.
In the time of Saint Ajora Glabados, Elidibs lived. When Ajora chose his twelve followers, gifting upon them twelve Holy Stones; one for each sign of the Zodiac, Elidibs lived. When Germonik betrayed Saint Ajora to the Holy Empire of Yudora, and had him beheaded at Golgorand, Elidibs lived.
As far as research indicates, from the remains of records of that time, it would seem that Elidibs stumbled upon the Serpentarius Stone on the island that also houses Deep Dungeon. A hub for the energies that fuel the power of Summoners, Deep Dungeon may well be one of the most magically saturated areas in all of Ivalice. Elidibs was one who would have followed Saint Ajora, if he had been chosen to be one of the twelve Zodiac Braves, but he wasn't.
I can only imagine that Elidibs was bitter with jealousy, and fueled by rage when he went to Deep Dungeon, which allowed the insidious intelligence of the Lucavi to invade Elidibs' psyche.
As is the case with the Zodiac Stones, which I have figured out along the way, Serpentarius bears a Lucavi similar in appearance to the animal its Zodiac Sign is named for. Elidibs bore a vaguely monstrous appearance, and was surrounded by serpents when my party encountered, and defeated, the ancient menace. Serpentarius must have been at least partially successful in subverting Elidibs' mind, and forcing itself into his body, twisting him to it's form in part, if not wholly.
I can only imagine the torment of Elidibs, who had to endure his body twisting and reshaping itself to the form the Lucavi wanted to inhabit. The malevolent intelligence crushing his own mortal mind beneath it's power; these thoughts bring gooseflesh up on my arms.
My findings are quite unsettling… no human is born into the domain of Serpentarius, not that we know in the present. The only date that is unaccounted for in the domains of the Zodiac, is the extra day in February every five years. This is most likely Serpentarius' domain, which a human has to be born into in order to wield the Stone associated with it.
The wielders of a Zodiac Stone must be of their corresponding signs, so Elidibs must have been born on that day.
It is extremely frightening to think of how my crusade against Saint Ajora… against Altima, would have gone if Elidibs was working in concert with the other Lucavi. I might not be sitting here writing this, I would be as dead as everyone believes me to be.
Ultimately, I am frightened to think about what will happen if Serpentarius ever finds itself a new host…

I didn't like a few things so I changed them, added others that it seems I forgot as I was writing the previous version. This is just about everything I'd like to say... So I probably won't be updating this again unless I have more ideas about Elidibs and Serpentarius.
Of course, I (as any author) like reviews. I don't mind flames, for those've you who wanna do that, I can always use a good laugh.
