Chichi was well aware that her husband wasn't one of the brightest men alive, or dead for that matter. He was a naïve, big hearted, fighter with a bottomless pit for a stomach. He was a fierce fighter, quite possibly the strongest man in the universe, and one of the gentlest people she'd ever met. She was herself a fighter, something that many people tended to forget. She was the daughter of the Ox King. It was one of the things that drew her to Son Goku. It was also one of the things that frightened her the most. She knew without a doubt that he would never stop fighting, that no matter what happened he was always going to be on the front lines and always in danger. Chichi found that as the years went by it got easier to understand Goku, to realize what motivated him, generally food worked pretty well, thank god she was an exceptional cook. Their sons were just like their father, naïve and kind hearted. Too strong for their own good and possessing a will to fight.

Chichi loved her boys, she loved her husband but she found that lately she was feeling more and more separated from Goku. He'd left so many times to fight, sometimes dying and she was left to wait each time. Put on a strong front, yell at the boys to keep them in line. Be the rock for a family that was slowly losing the family feel. Goku was a great father and a wonderful husband…when he was there. But there was more and more time now when he was gone and Chichi found herself growing lonely. She wanted to wake up with him in the morning, make him breakfast and cook him dinner after he returned from training with the boys. She didn't often think of herself as selfish, these feelings made here wonder. Was it selfish to want the man you loved by your side even if that meant that he might not be the savior of the world? Was it wrong to want your children to be have their father? She couldn't answer her own questions, on one hand it seemed like the world should matter more than the happiness of a single family, a single woman. And that was the crux of the matter, Chichi was coming to realize that she was the only one who seemed truly unhappy with Goku's constant and continued absences. His sons missed him sure but they were just like their father and seemed to feel that dying for the world was more important. Goku's friends missed him as well, but they had other friends and family to fill the void. Chichi had friends, Bulma and she had gotten much closer lately but it just didn't replace the man Chichi had loved since childhood.
